I am a potter, with clay in my hands,
It is a meditative state where my mind expands.
As I shape and mold, the clay responds

The wheel turns, with a soothing hum,
My thoughts still, my senses numb.

The clay speaks, in a raw language and I listen, to its gentle draw, while a bond forms, between me and clay.

The process seduces, with its charm and the shapes emerge, from my mind's eye.

In the kiln, as the flames dance, the pots find their voice, a metamorphosis, from earth to art.

A potter's life… a journey, to the depths of passion

Just the breathtaking view makes me wish I should never jump… not that way. Being defeated is a state also of mind; perhaps the jump should be for falling out of it…

Quo Vadis 2/2

Early modern reformers such as Desiderius Erasmus, Martin Luther, and Thomas More were quick to call pilgrimages 'false,' given the distasteful adoration of relics and commercial benefit to sanctuaries that such journeys seemed to demand, solidifying into a more widespread view the unease with which some in the Middle Ages had viewed pilgrimage for the Christians.

I have not been keen on visiting churches besides for architectural or historical reasons, but this time at the Vatican, the visit was different, the experience of navigating the history; the influence of the previous visits to the Coliseum, the Via Apia, and the many roads all leading to Rome, made me identify the strong connection to the fact that I am part of a belief that humans have an ulterior reason to exist.

Maybe all our life is a pilgrimage, and it is crucial making it consciously, understanding our limitations, barriers, social conditions and especially reasons. Step by step this will lead to life purpose. Yes, we may fall into false journeys, “adoration” of ideas, behaviours and even following false leaders or people… offensive behaviours that may cause harm to us and others; still at any point the question Quo Vadis, -where are you going- a pivotal question in the novel from Polish author Henryk Sienkiewicz, at the end of the 19th Century, is the one that could make us see past, present, and future together and correct the authenticity of our life, to develop from what our life is and not the idea of it.

Rough year, my 55th… and as I enter my late 50’s my illusion for keeping the journey real, true to the destination, has just grown stronger.

A night under the stars.

The lovely evening opened my appetite for enjoying the place, an observatory. Right at the Tibidabo, overlooking Barcelona city waking up from that lethargic hot afternoon at the Mediterranean.

It reminded me of the nights gazing at the starts and trying to figure out this wisdom of my grandfather to be guided by them.

You were born with the compass and you've developed it / fine tuned it over your entire life -he used to say-. It can't show you the whole path, but it points in the direction you ought to be going if you pay close enough attention.

I believe that this compass is what we must learn to trust. The only way to “fail” at creativity - or at life - is to stop listening to this calling, to ignore our inner compass and to avoid walking the path at all.

Many of us were "sold" a map. A map that shows the beginning (you are here), and middle (dotted line) and an endpoint (treasure buried here) What we should do is to tune into our inner COMPASS.

Believe me we don’t need to see the whole path. We just have to take the next step. And the next.

The path of every creator takes many unforeseen twists and turns. That’s its nature. And… I saw Saturn that night.

Realities.

Perfect weather for a splash 💦

My hot summer afternoons by the river, specially at the quiet pond De Los Bueyes, were fascinating. Starting with the tickling feeling on my feet from the tiny fishes biting my skin to the melody of the tree branches gently playing with the water surface.

These realities will always be present and easily triggered by the new images building different and new realities

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” – A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)
I hope, no matter how difficult it may be, fall in love with the city that is my home. The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back, but where is home? That quite corner of my country that we used to say that the devil lost it´s tail at? The small flat where I saw my children to become young adults? The noisy, colorful, and crowed megacity? The Baltic style cottage? All of them together… I have been saying goodbye to the last place without really committing to the vibrance, challenges and gifts the new place has to offer me.
I had what it is considered a time of my life, yes, one of those… we should have them more often. Riding on a vespa, opening the arms to the gentle breeze of the Mediterranean and opening the eyes with ingenuity to see beyond the obvious, talking about Godot, Greek drama, of course… Medea, who else? Capitalism and how individualism is a byproduct (??!!) but overall falling in love with Barcelona.
Maybe it is not difficult with such vibrant, cosmopolitan, beautiful city, but the fact is takes some will for saying “goodbye” to Copenhagen and for letting new experiences to come.
“There are no goodbyes for us … previous homes…. Wherever I am, you will always be in my heart.”

Walking Madrid.

It certainly has a charm and I hope never to get inmune to the beauty of this city, its diversity and majestic architecture.

There are some paths to take just to discover how universal the city is and you will end up having Ethiopian kifto with injera for lunch near Chueca. Or to visit the very Mexican version of The Revenge of Malinche along with the Peruvian Cuzco de Lupita, and because Mercado San Miguel was under renovations I had to find new ones... to my delight Mercado San Anton with a nice rooftop and the very popular Mercado de Embajadores were delicious Chilean empanadas were some of the highlights of the day.

Please Madrid... let always enjoy you... dismiss my emotional tears and don’t let my bag get stolen again 🥴🙏🏽😱
