This is a post I’ve really been looking forward to sharing. I have been so incredibly privileged to have a brief 4 days with the very early prototype of the newly announced LightLensLab 35mm f/2 APO lens. 🤩
I have used so many 35mm lenses over the years, and for the Leica M system it’s by far my favourite focal length. I’m a complete sucker for character in lenses, and often end up choosing them over the more corrected lenses. This lens however is different.
To this day this 35/2 APO is the best performing 35mm lens I have ever mounted on any of my cameras. It’s beyond sharp at all apertures, at all areas of the image. Distortion is nowhere to be found, and neither is chromatic aberrations. Bokeh rendering is smooth, and exhibits no visible optical vignetting. Even at its extended closest focus it renders flawlessly. (Last 2 images is close focus and extended close focus). It is by all measures as close to perfection as I have ever seen a lens. I am beyond impressed!
I cannot WAIT to get the final production copy in my hands. I fear it will never leave my Leica camera again.
