Some locations find you before you find them. 📍
Trier’s Europahalle has toilets that most people walk past without a second thought. Amber tiles from the 70s, geometric patterns, warm light bouncing off every glazed surface. Hidden in plain sight; iconic to those who’ve been inside.
There’s a lineage of photographers whose work has shaped the way I see spaces like this. Jamie Hawkesworth, Mel Bles, Harley Weir. What connects them isn’t a style; it’s a conviction. That the mundane is not the opposite of fashion. That a supermarket corridor, a brutalist bus station, a tiled public bathroom can carry as much visual tension as any curated studio set; sometimes more. The compositions feel simultaneously accidental and completely inevitable. And the light; always the light; doing things you didn’t plan for but wouldn’t dare move away from. ✨
That’s what happened here.
The Europahalle toilets are kitschy, seventies, slightly absurd. They’re also visually extraordinary; the amber glaze, the circular tile motifs, the way artificial light wraps around every surface and turns everything gold. The moment I walked in with the collection, the composition built itself. The clothes; precise, graphic, restrained; against that warm chaos of pattern and reflection. Urban and mundane; but completely cinematic. 🎯
This is what location scouting means to me. Not finding the obvious. Finding the place that makes the clothes say something they couldn’t say anywhere else.
🙏 A special thank you to Caroline Hoffmann from the Europahalle Trier and to Kevin; our model; for making this shoot possible. For opening the doors spontaneously; for trusting us with the space; and for saying yes without hesitation. That kind of generosity is what turns an idea into something real.
