Zaanse Schans, is a windmill village around the neighborhood of Zaandam. Those century old windmills were relocated around 18-19th centuries. The houses are colored green and were also restored with the windmills. This village falls within the famous European Route of Industrial Heritage.

Besides tulip, canals, bicycles; wooden shoe is also an age-long tradition in Netherland. Not far from Amsterdam, just 10 minutes from Zaandam, this wooden shoe museum will blow your mind.

You can go through the history at the entrance of the workshop, you can see the machines that are used to make it, even you can experience live demonstration of making shoes. Also, you can buy real wooden shoes of different colors and also as a souvenir.

And entry and demonstration are totally free :D

Depicting the defeat of Napoleon by Russia, Prussia, Sweden and Austria on the Battle of the Nations at 1813, Monument to the Battle of the Nations stands high representing the tallest monument of Europe.
