Stillwater
Thansen 2020
The autumn skies reflections on the perfectly still waters of the local pond. This place is usually busy with all kinds of birds, on and around the water, swimming, drinking, diving and living their best bird lives. 🦆🐤On this day however, there was not a chirp to be heard, seemed like they were all still in hiding after the rain the night before.
I took the chance to explore the lakes watersides and found this (image 2) abandoned birdhouse, neatly installed just above the waterline.

Moss
Thansen 2020
While walking through the woods I came across a small clearing, the ground completely covered with moss, even some of the trees were almost grown over with it.

The moss immediately dampened all sounds and lights around - even the birds seemed to be chirping less intensely as if they were aware that this is a place of stillness.

Very soothing experience,
hope the images cover some aspect of it.

Red River

I went out into the woods behind our temporary home-away-from-home and found a little jungle with a stream of red water flowing right through it. Its a bizarre and fascinating sight: depending on time of day and lighting, the color would change from a light, almost lilac tone to full on crimson red.
Four versions, with different perspectives, slightly processed. Also includes monochrome version- somehow my favorite

After the Harvest
Thansen 2020
I came across a recently harvested corn field and found a couple of ripe cobs, already being picked apart by the birds and other animals. Everything seemed so neatly arranged, a metaphor for the season or maybe even for the kind of year we’ve experienced in 2020 so: Even though everything seems to be falling apart there’s still an inherent beauty to it all.

Heide Tri-Color

Theres not a a lot of strong colors in the landscape, everything seems kinda desaturated, which given the right lighting from above, can be very soothing to the eye. Other times, when skies are grey, it makes everything seem bleak.

Here are two examples with the three primary colors you‘ll find in these parts: Moss covered green-ocher grounds, purple lawns of the heather plants and a deep forrest green.

Forrest Good
Nordheide 2020
It’s fall season and the forrest bears it’s fruit. Here’s a couple of fungi, often growing in the most unusual places.

I can’t really name any of them (such a townie.. 🙄) but I‘m guessing non of them were edible. And while we‘re at it: Any of you got any tips for a comprehensive book about or is there even a good app for that?
Very much intrigued now-

Old Juniper
Nord Heide 2020
Drove up north to spend some time away from all the craziness of the big city in Covid-19 times. I found myself amongst some very peculiar landscapes and started to really explore every detail of the surrounding nature.

The old can be a mystic place and the trees with its cracked skin and twisted trunk and branches seems like right out of an old fairytail.

Two versions with different level of detail, can’t wait to share this in full, once portfolio website is ( in progress) - Expect more to be shared here in the next days.

Yellow
Hamburg 2020
One of my favorite shots from my trip to Hamburg two weeks ago:
A woman alone on a platform in the wind and the rain ( ) wearing her (yellow coat), next to a red fire hydrant on black asphalt ground, bordering the grey waters of the river.

Beautiful arrangement and I was lucky enough to shoot this from high above even without a proper lense. I like the second shot even better, but you‘ll probably miss most of the details due to IG size limitations.
I should really start printing these in a bigger format - what do you think?

Alster Morning

More , more images - must be still in good old Hamburg.

Image taken on a windless morning at one of many boat houses along the Alster.

If you happen to be a in Hamburg I recommend taking a long walk around the Außenalster (Alster Lake) towards the inner city or even all the way around it (a good 2h ).

Holi cinema has been around for ages and a fixture in the neighborhood ever since it first opened in 1951.
The aesthetics and its vintage design features (like the beautiful ) makes it also real - and they also show very well selected features.
