My first attempt at imaging the Bode's Galaxy (M81) and the Cigar Galaxy (M82) using an HaRGB palette with my monochrome ASI1600MM camera.

I'm pleased with how the hydrogen regions stand out more prominently with the added Ha channel. Broadband imaging under Bortle 7 skies is difficult due to the increased light pollution and resulting noise.

Integration Time: 3×20×180s (RGB), 10×360s (Ha)
Gain: 1 for RGB and 200 for Ha

🔭 Observing Jupiter, the Giant of the Solar System! 🔭

Captured an image of Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, known for its intense atmospheric bands and the famous Great Red Spot—a storm three times the size of Earth that has raged for centuries! Jupiter's dynamic atmosphere is composed mostly of hydrogen and helium, giving rise to its distinctive cloud layers and turbulent weather patterns. Every glimpse reveals something unique about its mysteries.

T Coronae Borealis (T CrB), also known as the Blaze Star, is about to erupt as a nova! 🌟✨

This binary star system in Corona Borealis has a history of dramatic outbursts, seen in 1866 and 1946. 👀

The next eruption is expected soon, likely by September 2024. 🗓️

During this event, T CrB will brighten to magnitude 2, making it visible to the naked eye for several days. 👀🔭

Keep an eye out for this rare celestial spectacle!

The Lion Nebula, also known as SH2-132, is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cepheus. It is approximately 10,000 light-years away and is a site of active star formation. The nebula is characterized by its rich hydrogen regions, star clusters, and dark dust lanes. Two notable Wolf-Rayet stars, HD 211564 and HD 211853, ionize the gas within the nebula, contributing to its glow! 🌟✨🌌
