Carcassonne by night – inside the walls 🏰✨

Walking through Carcassonne at night feels completely different. The old stone walls and towers are softly illuminated, the streets are quieter and the medieval atmosphere becomes even stronger. Every corner inside the fortress looks like a scene from another century.

Carcassonne bei Nacht – innerhalb der Mauern 🏰✨

Nachts durch Carcassonne zu laufen fühlt sich ganz anders an. Die alten Mauern und Türme sind sanft beleuchtet, die Gassen werden ruhiger und die mittelalterliche Atmosphäre wird noch stärker. Innerhalb der Festung wirkt jede Ecke wie eine Szene aus einer anderen Zeit.

Carcassonne de noche – dentro de la fortaleza 🏰✨

Caminar por Carcassonne de noche se siente muy diferente. Las murallas y torres están iluminadas suavemente, las calles están más tranquilas y el ambiente medieval se vuelve aún más intenso. Cada rincón dentro de la fortaleza parece de otra época.

Carcassonne at night 🏰✨

From far away the fortress of Carcassonne lights up the night. The towers and walls glow above the dark landscape, almost like a scene from a medieval story. Seeing the whole city from this distance makes the fortress look even more impressive.

Carcassonne bei Nacht 🏰✨

Aus der Ferne leuchtet die Festungsstadt Carcassonne in der Dunkelheit. Türme und Mauern heben sich hell vom nächtlichen Umland ab und wirken fast wie aus einer mittelalterlichen Geschichte. Von weitem sieht die gesamte Anlage noch beeindruckender aus.

Desde lejos, la ciudad fortificada de Carcassonne brilla en la noche. Las torres y murallas iluminadas destacan sobre el paisaje oscuro, como si fueran parte de una historia medieval. Desde esta perspectiva la fortaleza se ve aún más impresionante.

Carcassonne evening walk 🏰🌅

As the sun sets behind the fortress walls, the whole city slowly changes. Warm light on the stone towers, quiet streets and views across the old walls. We wander through the fortress, passing small alleys and hidden corners until the lights turn on and the evening ends with dinner inside the medieval city.

Abendspaziergang durch Carcassonne 🏰🌅

Während die Sonne hinter den Festungsmauern untergeht, verändert sich die ganze Stadt. Warmes Licht auf den alten Türmen, ruhige Gassen und immer wieder neue Blicke über die Mauern. Wir laufen durch die Festung, vorbei an kleinen Wegen und versteckten Ecken, bis der Abend schließlich mit einem Restaurantbesuch endet.

Paseo nocturno por Carcassonne 🏰🌅

Mientras el sol se esconde detrás de las murallas, la ciudad cambia lentamente. Luz cálida sobre las torres, calles tranquilas y vistas sobre la fortaleza. Caminamos por la ciudad medieval pasando por callejones y rincones escondidos hasta terminar la noche en un restaurante dentro de la fortaleza.

Dinner inside the fortress walls 🍷

After sunset we wander through the old streets of Carcassonne looking for a place to eat. Not so easy – most restaurants inside the fortress are already closing. After a bit of searching we finally find one still open. A small table, warm light and a quiet end to the evening inside the medieval city.

Abendessen in der Festung 🍷

Nach Sonnenuntergang laufen wir durch die alten Gassen von Carcassonne und suchen ein Restaurant. Gar nicht so einfach – die meisten Lokale in der Festungsanlage haben schon geschlossen. Nach etwas Suchen finden wir zum Glück noch eines. Ein kleiner Tisch, warmes Licht und ein ruhiger Abschluss des Abends.

Cena dentro de la fortaleza 🍷

Después del atardecer caminamos por las calles de Carcassonne buscando un restaurante. No es tan fácil: la mayoría ya está cerrando dentro de la fortaleza. Tras un rato buscando, por suerte encontramos uno abierto. Una mesa pequeña, luz cálida y un final tranquilo para la noche.

Carcassonne – first impressions 🏰

Arriving in Carcassonne during the day already feels like stepping into another time. Massive fortress walls, towers everywhere and narrow medieval streets. Walking through the old city for the first time, every corner looks like a scene from history.

Carcassonne – erste Eindrücke 🏰

Schon bei der Ankunft am Tag fühlt sich Carcassonne wie eine Reise in eine andere Zeit an. Mächtige Festungsmauern, unzählige Türme und enge mittelalterliche Gassen. Beim ersten Spaziergang durch die Altstadt wirkt jede Ecke wie ein Stück Geschichte.

Llegar a Carcassonne durante el día se siente como viajar a otra época. Grandes murallas, torres por todas partes y calles medievales estrechas. Caminando por la ciudad vieja por primera vez, cada rincón parece una escena de la historia.

Sunset over Carcassonne 🏰🌅

As the sun slowly sets behind the medieval walls, Carcassonne turns golden. Towers, stone walls and narrow streets glow in the warm evening light. After everything that happened before, this quiet sunset over the fortress city feels like the perfect moment to slow down again.

Sonnenuntergang über Carcassonne 🏰🌅

Während die Sonne langsam hinter den alten Festungsmauern verschwindet, taucht sie Carcassonne in goldenes Licht. Türme, Mauern und die engen Gassen leuchten in der Abendsonne. Nach allem, was zuvor passiert ist, fühlt sich dieser ruhige Moment über der Festungsstadt besonders gut an.

Mientras el sol se esconde detrás de las murallas medievales, Carcassonne se baña en una luz dorada. Torres, murallas y calles estrechas brillan con los colores del atardecer. Después de todo lo ocurrido antes, este momento tranquilo sobre la ciudad fortificada se siente perfecto.

Carcassonne at golden hour 🏰

Walking through Carcassonne feels like stepping into a medieval movie set. Massive stone walls, towers everywhere and narrow streets between old houses. After the stressful day before, exploring the fortress city slowly on foot is exactly what we needed.

Carcassonne zur goldenen Stunde 🏰

Durch Carcassonne zu laufen fühlt sich an wie durch ein mittelalterliches Filmset. Massive Steinmauern, überall Türme und kleine Gassen zwischen alten Häusern. Nach dem stressigen Tag davor tut es richtig gut, die Festungsstadt einfach in Ruhe zu Fuß zu erkunden.

Caminar por Carcassonne se siente como estar dentro de una película medieval. Grandes murallas de piedra, torres por todas partes y calles estrechas entre casas antiguas. Después del día estresante anterior, explorar la ciudad fortificada con calma es justo lo que necesitábamos.

Carcassonne – taking a breath again 🏰

After the shock in Barcelona, arriving in Carcassonne feels almost surreal. The old fortress walls, narrow streets and towers look like something from another time. We walk through the historic city slowly, trying to clear our heads. Step by step the calm atmosphere helps us leave the stressful moment behind.

Carcassonne – erstmal durchatmen 🏰

Nach dem Schock in Barcelona fühlt sich die Ankunft in Carcassonne fast unwirklich an. Die alten Festungsmauern, engen Gassen und Türme wirken wie aus einer anderen Zeit. Wir erkunden die historische Stadt zu Fuß und versuchen erstmal den Kopf frei zu bekommen. Schritt für Schritt kehrt wieder etwas Ruhe ein.

Carcassonne – recuperando la calma 🏰

Después del shock en Barcelona, llegar a Carcassonne se siente casi irreal. Las murallas antiguas, las torres y las calles estrechas parecen de otra época. Caminamos por la ciudad fortificada intentando despejar la mente. Poco a poco la tranquilidad del lugar nos devuelve la calma.

Barcelona goodbye… not the way we planned 🚗

Just as we’re about to leave Barcelona for Carcassonne, we notice something is wrong. The rear window of our car has been smashed – and most of our photo equipment is gone. Luckily the main camera was with us. After the shock we drive back into the city to find the only police station responsible and later cover the broken window with foil and tape. A rough end to our Barcelona stop.

Barcelona sagt auf Wiedersehen… leider anders als geplant 🚗

Gerade als wir Barcelona Richtung Carcassonne verlassen wollen, entdecken wir den Schaden: Die Heckscheibe unseres Autos wurde eingeschlagen und fast das gesamte Foto-Equipment gestohlen. Zum Glück hatten wir die Kamera bei uns. Danach müssen wir zurück in die Stadt, weil nur ein Polizeirevier zuständig ist, und decken die kaputte Scheibe provisorisch mit Folie und Klebeband ab.

Barcelona se despide… pero no como esperábamos 🚗

Justo cuando queremos salir de Barcelona rumbo a Carcassonne descubrimos el problema: la luna trasera del coche está rota y casi todo nuestro equipo fotográfico ha desaparecido. Por suerte llevábamos la cámara con nosotros. Después tenemos que volver a la ciudad para ir a la comisaría y cubrir la ventana rota con plástico y cinta.
