6 insane things I do as a dog mum of a pup with severe allergies,
that would put regular dog parents into a coma
1. No exposed upholstered furniture in the home.
Sorry, did you want to see the beautiful couch you carefully chose with the fabric you love the pattern of? Yeah, that might not work. Blankets and covers, that’s it. You’ll never see your gorgeous moss velvet ever again.
2. Washing or changing the blankets and covers every two days.
This is a continuation of the previous point and if you hate doing laundry, welcome to the club!
3. Expensive daily medication that there is no end of. A bigger expense than a vet visit, the food and treats or your entire upcoming grocery bill. Sorry, you have no choice, if you don’t want to disinfect skin sores.
4. No walking on grass. Yeah, I am not kidding. You can choose between walking on that sweet soft summer lawn or your dog chewing on their legs for the next three months.
5. Vacuuming, mopping, deep cleaning, disinfecting, and some more spraying. It’s just a way of life now, gone are the days of a weekly house spruce up.
6. No visiting dusty places.
It’s going to be tough to explain to your grandparents that you cannot possibly visit the farm with the dog because there just might be too many dust mites. And grass mites. And storage mites.
