What does it take to photograph architecture at over 3,000 meters in the Swiss Alps?
For two nights, my assistant Marcus and I lived on the construction site of the new Tower by , waiting for brief weather windows between fog, snow, and constantly changing mountain conditions.
Most of the time, the tower disappeared completely into the clouds. Sometimes we waited for hours just to get a few minutes of visibility. But those moments are exactly what make alpine architecture photography so rewarding.
Using the Pico with the CFV 100C and the Hasselblad X2D II mounted on tripods, I documented the building shortly before its opening while being accompanied by a film crew from ARTE for an upcoming documentary about modern architecture in the Alps.
These are a few behind-the-scenes moments from an unforgettable production high above the clouds.
