Social Isolation at Mummelsee.
Exif: 15 images for the sky (but I decided to crop the image a bit), z6, 50mm 1.8s @ f2.5, iso 800, 2min with sky watcher star adventurer, foreground, the same location, d610, 20mm 1.8g @ f 2.5, 24 images stacked, iso 3200, 15 sec and 2 frames for the hotel to try to recover some of the highlights.
I guess everybody knows what the situation is,so lets hope everything will be back to normal as quickly as possible. As German laws dont allow more than 2 people to gather outside, I went with a friend of mine (also a fellow astro photographer) to Mummelsee couple of nights ago to photograph the Milky Way and to try my new tracker. It turned out that this location isnt optimal for tracking, as there is no view to the north at all due to big trees, so I had to guess where Polaris is. After some trial and error I was able to achieve 2 min exposures with somehow sharp stars (not exactly sharp, but not that noticeable with 20-50mm, so i was happy) I also thought that the hotel wont be lit during the quarantine, but it was. I also noticed the Starlink satellites, which I brushed out in the final image. Hopefully they wont be that distracting in the future. I cannot wait to try the tracker at a darker location!
