“High-end photography” has become one of the most overused phrases in this industry.
Apparently everyone is luxury now, everyone travels the world, veryone shoots “editorial” or works with “exclusive clients”.
Meanwhile, half the industry is still trying to figure out how to communicate professionally, direct people without making them uncomfortable, deliver consistently under pressure or keep a client’s trust once the camera is gone.
Luxury was never the tote bag in Ibiza.
Or the perfectly curated behind-the-scenes content.
It’s the ability to create work that actually holds up once nobody is watching anymore.
It’s discretion, consistency, taste, awareness, preparation and knowing when to direct and when to step back.
And maybe most importantly:
understanding the difference between turning people into content and actually seeing them.
Conclusion: real high-end work rarely needs to announce itself every five minutes.
