After eight hours on the trail, I wasn’t dreaming about a hotel.

I was dreaming about a warm fire.

We pitched the tent, gathered around the flames, and just before midnight, a few fellow hikers walked over with a cinnamon bun they wanted to share.

It wasn’t about the pastry.

When people think of Sweden, they picture deep forests and red cabins.

I didn’t expect water this clear.

For a moment, it felt like I was standing somewhere along the Mediterranean coast—except there was no crowd, no beach clubs, no noise.

Sometimes it’s finding a little red cabin in the middle of nowhere and realizing it’s exactly where you want to be.

No Wi-Fi.
No noise.
