Vor ein paar Tagen ist ein Artikel über mein Fotoprojekt „Freiheim“ auf Der Spiegel Reise erschienen! Das Projekt stellt anhand von Bildern und Interviews die Erfahrungen von Frauen dar, die dauerhaft in Wohnmobilen und Vans leben. A couple of days ago an article about my photo project "Freiheim" ha been published on Der Spiegel Reise ! The project represent through images and interviews the experiences of women living full time in mobile homes and vans. Old work has been reorganized, and new work from the last year or so is finally there!

Seeing my photography all nicely put together once the website was done made me very happy. I am really proud of it, because I think it shows a lot of who I am, of my personality, my idea of beauty... Photography always helps me to better focus (pun!) some parts of myself. I feel very lucky in having this in what I do for a living.

Meine Bilder alle so schön zusammengestellt zu sehen hat mich sehr glücklich gemacht. Ich bin wirklich stolz darauf, weil ich denke, dass die Webseite viel von mir selbst zeigt, von meiner Persönlichkeit, meiner Vorstellung von Schönheit... Die Fotografie hilft mir immer, einige Aspekte von mir selbst besser zu fokussieren (Pun!). Ich fühle mich sehr glücklich, dies in dem zu haben, was ich beruflich mache.

Liebe Freunde, im Mai und Juni unterrichte ich einen 3-Teiligen Fotokurs im wunderschönen NUN Kulturraum! Wenn du daran interessiert bist, dein fotografisches Auge zu entwickeln und zu lernen, wie man durch Fotografie kommuniziert, ist dies der richtige Kurs für dich!

In diesem interaktiven Fotografie-Kurs untersuchen wir die Fotografie als Mittel zur Kommunikation, zum Selbstausdruck und zur Erkundung unserer Umwelt. Dazu lernen wir zunächst die Grundlagen der Technik und Komposition kennen um ihre ganz persönliche fotografische Vision sowie die Geschichte und die Emotionen dahinter, in Bildern zu vermitteln.
Spielerische Übungen helfen uns dabei, uns von konventionellen Vorstellungen, was ein “gutes” Foto ist, zu lösen um gemeinsam zu lernen, dass es in der Fotografie kein Richtig oder Falsch gibt. So lernen wir, unsere Umgebung aus neuen Perspektiven zu sehen und beginnen damit, unsere ganz persönliche Geschichte mit den Mitteln der Fotografie zu erzählen.
Der Kurs umfasst: Vorträge, Einzel- und Gruppenübungen, Hausaufgaben und Gruppengespräche. Mit Beispiele und Analysen historischer und zeitgenössischer Fotografien.
Das inhaltliche Themenfeld umfasst: fotografisch Sehen, fotografische Technik (Belichtung, Fokus, Perspektive, Beleuchtung), Komposition und visuelle Kommunikation, Storytelling sowie auch Tipps zur Präsentation der eigenen Arbeit.

Your photo, your story - Photography course in Karlsruhe - Photographic seeing, technical basics, composition and storytelling.
In this interactive photography course, we will discover photography as a tool for communication, self-expression and exploration. By developing one’s photographic vision and mastering the basics of technique and composition, we will learn how to convey different meanings, stories and emotions though images. Though playful exercises, we will free ourselves from conventional ideas of what a good photo is: we will learn that there is not right or wrong in photography, see our surroundings from new perspectives and begin using photography to tell our own personal story.
The course combines lectures, individual and group exercises, homework and group reviews. With many examples and analysis of historical and contemporary photographs.
The course’s content covers: photographic seeing, photographic technique (exposure, focus, perspective, lighting), composition and visual communication, storytelling and presentation of one’s own work.

Foto-Workshop - Kirchheim unter Teck, Samstag 26.09.2020

On Saturday 26.09 I will teach a photography workshop as part of the Kirchheimer Kultursommer festival!

In this photography workshop for beginners, you will learn something different than how to set your camera to take a „pretty“ picture.
We will free ourselves from conventional ideas of what a good photo is and rather embrace photography as a double exploration journey: of the world, and of ourselves.
Though playful exercises, we will start seeing our surroundings from new perspectives. You will learn that there is not right or wrong in photography, but that technique and composition are just tools to convey different meanings, stories and emotions. You will learn to recognize and effectively use these tools to tell your own personal story.
The wokshop will start in Kirchheim's historical archive and continue by exploring corners of the city that can be sometimes „overlooked“.
