A good friend of mine challenged me to do a better job documenting and sharing my own life. You’d think that would come naturally to me, but I’m not always good at celebrating my own journey. I spend the majority of my time taking or looking at romantic pictures of couples swooning in love that sometimes I forget to have that same affection for my own life. But dang, this life is so sweet, and I want to remember all these incredible moments I’ve gotten to experience. I know that these are going to be some of my very favorite years.

So, here’s a lil recap of May ◡̈

Before Brooke + Maura walked down the aisle, they skied/snowboarded down the mountain in their custom sweatshirts. Since they both loveee the outdoors and fell in love in the mountains, we thought this would be the perfect way to start their wedding day.

Maybe next time I’ll join them on the run ◡̈

Here’s your reminder that your wedding day can look however the heck you want it to!

There is truly no where in the world quite like Iceland. Elopements and engagements in Iceland are so fun to document because the landscape is SO VAST and dynamic. There is seemingly an unlimited amount of space to roam which makes it really easy to find corners where it truly feels like you are the only two people in the whole world. Creating art with you is almostttttt effortless because of how grand and beautiful it is everywhere you look.

This small fishing village called Arnarstapi is easily one of my favorite places on the island. You know I’m a sucker for cliffs near the water, and getting to this spot is an easy, stunninggggg walk right along the coast.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have been able to go to Iceland 3x now for photography, and I’m getting antsy to go back!!! Who’s coming with me?!

What better way to start your elopement in Florence than walking around the city together before it wakes up ◡̈

We started our time together at 5:15am, just before the sun began to rise. You might think that’s crazy, but when you get to walk around the Duomo and across the Ponte Vecchio without a single person around, you’d understand why it’s worth it. And on top of that, we got to experience the most goldeny sunrise light peaking through the narrow streets before we went back for the ceremony.

Once back at the hotel, we popped some bubbly and headed up to the rooftop of their hotel where they exchanged vows in private and shared a dance to their favorite song. By then, it was almost 11am, just in time for a little nap ◡̈

M + C, I had an absolute blast with you in Florence! Can’t wait for you to visit in Spain!

Who says your Florence Engagement Photos have to end once the sun sets?! ◡̈

I use to think of “nightlife” as being clubs + party scenes, but after visiting cities around Italy, I’ve learned that it’s a lot more casual than that. It’s rather common for dinner to start closer to 9pm and last hours. Nightlife looks like neighbors gathering in the square to chat, dance, and share of bottle of wine as they talk about their days.

It seemed fitting for E & E’s engagement photos to embrace that ◡̈

We started on a bridge and watched the sun go down behind the city. Then we wandered the narrow streets, following the sound of music and laughter. It was an absolute blast.

SO stoked to say I’ll be back in Florence + the Tuscan region a few more times this year! And, I am always so down to go back. It’s an easy flight for me from Barcelona, a perk of moving abroad for sure ◡̈

The last time I was going to post on social media, I had a perfectly curated elopement from Italy ready to share with a perfectly curated caption.

I hopped onto this app, and without any warning, the first video I see is of a man getting tackled to the ground and sh** while trying to protect his neighbor. Honestly, I haven’t been okay since then.

That could have been me.

The amount of times I’ve accompanied teenagers to rallies + protests + marches. Beautiful, slightly unhinged teenagers, with the biggest hearts + deepest hope of a better future. With confidence I can say that if that had been us, if they had been pushed and pepper sprayed, I too would have gotten between them and the aggressor. I bet you would too.

Then, I watched and listened as we were fed a narrative that did not match what I watched. And I saw the aggressors actions defended again + again + again.

Is anyone else getting whiplash being online right now? When I scroll, it seems like the pattern is
Scroll
Neighbor gets sh**
Scroll
Who wore what at the awards show
Scroll
Family kidnapped while on their way to their asylum hearing
Scroll
Jaw-Dropping elopement photos
Scroll
Funny kitty video
Scroll
Something about reading the words of one dead man instead of listening to the voices of hundreds of alive women
Scroll. Scroll. Scroll.

It’s exhausting. And I don’t think it’s normal or healthy.
And…
As a wedding + elopement photographer. My business lives online. My career is spent documenting love + joy + celebrations that are happening while the world burns.

What I’ve been feeling lately is that somehow there is beauty all around us, and, I am so sad and angry.

I don’t know how to exist online right now. But what if sharing how love is continuing to thrive despite the horror is exactly the kind of hope we need to keep a firm grip on humanity?

All this to say. Hi. I am still here. WE are still here. + trying to navigate this life is so much if you are paying attention. I am paying attention. I will not look away. And, I refuse to let them steal any more of my joy and hope than they already have.

with hope & fury,
Kate

Storytime: A Paris Wedding Proposal ♡

Some stories begin quietly — a walk through Paris, the hum of the city, a pause that feels different. Being a proposal photographer means witnessing the exact second someone decides to change their life forever. The nervous breath before they kneel, the way time slows, the joy that spills out after “yes”…

I am a deeply empathetic person. It’s become one of my favorite things about me. I feel all the feels so deeply, and it’s so apparent during proposals ◡̈ I think that’s why I enjoy them so much. I don’t just document the moment, I help hold space for it, so you can be fully present while your love story unfolds.

Your story deserves to feel intentional, effortless, and deeply you. From scouting the perfect location to capturing every in-between emotion, I’m here to make sure your proposal feels less like a production and more like a memory you’ll relive forever. If you are hoping to propose while traveling in Europe this year, reach out to me! I would be HONORED to help you plan the sweetest day for you and your person.
