Today we begin, in collaboration between & , a small post series to talk about Betta albimarginata. In them we will try to make a file explaining his characteristics and our experiences.
Today we start with the Introduction and his Complex.
I hope this will be interesting and helpful.

Betta Albimarginata
Indonesia (Borneo)
Ph 4,5-6,5 / Gh 1-6 / Temp: 23º-28º

Betta: comes from the colloquial Malay language for the species of this genus.
Albimarginata: From the Latin albus, white, and margo, edge, thus referring to the white edges of fins.

This small Betta gives name to his own complex, where the Betta Channoides and itself are included, and we can find it on Borneo island, more specifically in the Sebuku River, and it is currently possible to get them from three different locations: Sebuku, Malinau and Tarakan, there being very small morphological differences between them, the main one being that the specimens captured in Tarakan, a small island off Borneo coast, are somewhat smaller (about 3.5 cm while those from Sebuku and Malinau reach between 4.5 and 5.5 cm). Life expectancy is around 3 years.

Like many of these small Bettas, it is at risk due to the loss of his natural habitat, related to deforestation due to the increase in palm plantations to obtain oil.
