I didn’t grow up by the sea, yet it’s always felt like where I belong. Ever since I was a child, the ocean has held a special place in my heart. There are old videos of me standing at the shoreline, completely captivated, watching the waves roll in again and again. Even then, there was something about the ocean that drew me in like nothing else. 🌊

Today, as a nature and wildlife photographer, time spent on the water is where I feel most grounded. Marine wildlife has changed the way I see the world, revealing just how deeply the health of our oceans is connected to the future of our planet. Through every encounter, I’ve come to understand that their stories need to be told and their voices need to be heard.🐋

The ocean gives us so much: it regulates our climate, produces much of the oxygen we breathe and supports an incredible diversity of life. Yet it is facing immense pressure from human activities such as industrial fishing, pollution, deep sea mining and whaling.

On this World Ocean Day, I encourage each of you to reflect on the choices you make every day. Be mindful of where your resources come from, reduce what you waste, support conservation efforts, and help raise awareness. Every action, no matter how small it may seem, has the power to create change. And perhaps most importantly, inspire others to care too.✨

Protecting our oceans isn’t someone else’s responsibility – it’s all of ours. Together we can help ensure that future generations inherit seas that are thriving, wild, and full of life.

For the ocean, today and every day.

Happy World Ocean Day 💙

Summer is here.✨

After a season of slowing down, recharging and getting work done at home, it’s time to head north again. As always, the Arctic is calling, a place of wild beauty, quiet moments and endless inspiration.

In late summer, we’ll be returning to Greenland for a sailing expedition through Scoresbysund with an amazing group of people. It’s one of the most beautiful and fascinating places in the world and I can’t wait to share the adventure, the landscapes and the magic of this extraordinary corner of the Arctic. ⛵️🤍

When you think of your ultimate dream wildlife encounter — what comes to mind?✨

For years I have dreamed of seeing Typ B orcas in the pack ice. During my recent trip to Antarctica, my friend and I were sitting on deck, talking about life as we watched the most beautiful sunset, when suddenly black fins appeared against the magical icy landscape.

I still smile in disbelief whenever I think of that night. It was one of those moments that felt too perfect to be real and made me fall in love with this wild planet even more. A memory I’ll carry with me forever. 🫍🩵

Lately I’ve felt the urge to gather some of my favorite moon moments into a small collection. No matter where I travel in the world, the moon always finds a way to catch my eye.

It still amazes me that we can look up almost every night and watch another world hanging so close above us. Just a quiet space rock, brought to life only by the light of the sun — yet endlessly changing, endlessly beautiful in every phase. And somehow it’s more than just beautiful. Without the moon, life on Earth as we know it might not even exist. It gently keeps our planet in balance, a silent guardian in the night sky.🌙

Did you notice: in the first photo, the moon is dancing with Mercury. Definitely one of my most magical moon sightings.💫

Not long from now until we pack our lives into the van and head north again. Northern Norway feels like our second home and I can’t wait to feel the salty ocean breeze on my face, hike new mountain peaks under the midnight sun and spend as much time as possible in nature with my favorite animals.🫍🧡

Every time I scroll through my archive, I find myself wondering how a place like this can even be real.✨

And maybe that’s exactly why it hurts to see how carelessly some people treat it. These past few years have been eye-opening in ways I wish they weren’t. I just hope that when people come here, they slow down, take it all in, and truly connect with this place – because once you do, you naturally want to protect it. Leave no trace, take your trash with you and just help keep places like this as magical as they are.🌿

The emperor penguin colony of Snow Hill Island in Antarctica.🤍

In one of the harshest places on Earth, life begins for an emperor penguin chick – surrounded by endless ice, freezing winds and temperatures that can drop far below zero. Yet somehow, these tiny fluff balls are never truly alone.

Did you know: when parents return from the ocean after days or even weeks of hunting, they find their own chick again in a colony of thousands… not by sight, but by voice. Each chick and parent has a unique call and they recognize each other through their songs above the noise of the entire colony.

Nature never stops humbling me. 🐧✨

Being out on the ocean has become my greatest addiction. There’s nothing more peaceful than sitting on deck with friends – coffee in hand, salty breeze, sun on your face – surrounded by the most magical animals on our planet.🐋✨

I’m missing those days a lot right now and truly can’t wait for the next winter season up north. I’m also excited to share that this is exactly where you’ll find me from November to January 🌊⛵️ 🤍

Antarctica – what a wild and fascinating place. 🤍 My latest trip to the far south left me speechless and completely in awe. Aboard the icebreaker we ventured deep into the thick ice of the Weddell Sea – a place I would never have dared to dream of visiting one day. All those tales from early adventurers, the documentaries I’ve watched about this region and the photos I’ve seen from artists I deeply admire suddenly felt so close and real.

Standing there in the middle of this icy desert, on a ship carving its way through the pack ice toward one of the rarest wildlife sightings on Earth, felt just surreal. Reaching the emperor penguin colony on Snow Hill Island was anything but guaranteed. The ship had to navigate through the dense pack ice of the Weddell Sea, the fast ice needed to be safe enough to walk on, and the weather had to cooperate for the 12 km hike to the colony. I’m so grateful everything aligned and we were able to witness these extraordinary animals.🐧

I always try to keep my expectations low on trips like this, knowing that Mother Nature often has plans of her own. But this time, everything came together and the entire journey felt truly magical – a real once in a lifetime experience.✨

Entering their kingdom 🖤
A realm of darkness and light, of chaos and beauty - a world full of wonders. No words could ever describe what I feel when being among orcas and whales in the cold waters of Norway.

Forever in love with the ocean and its inhabitants. 🐋✨

Winter light dancing between deep blue and molten gold. Orcas gliding gracefully through the fjords of Kvænangen, where the low Arctic sun turns the sea into a world full of wonders.✨

Reflecting on my unforgettable time in these cold northern waters and already dreaming of the next season. 🐋🖤
