Did you know that Switzerland and Italy almost touch at the Lavena Strait?

📍 On one side: Caslano, Ticino, Switzerland
📍 On the other: Lavena Ponte Tresa, Italy

This little corner of Lake Lugano (Lago Ceresio) is one of those places that makes you stop and look twice.

The incredible part?
At its narrowest point, the water separating Switzerland from Italy is only around 20–30 metres wide.

That means you can stand in Switzerland and look directly across the lake at Italy. 🇨🇭👀🇮🇹

But there’s more to this hidden gem:

🌿 Monte Caslano rises on the Swiss side, a protected natural area known for its rich biodiversity and unique landscape.

💧 The Tresa River begins its journey here, flowing from Lake Lugano towards Lake Maggiore.

🏘️ Lavena Ponte Tresa has a long history linked to the lake, the river and its position right on the Italian-Swiss border.

🌍 And the best part? You don’t need a plane, train or passport to experience two countries in a single view.
