I almost forgot how much fun photography is!
Finally started to get back into it after an extensive creative break and I'm just in love with this little guy. Look at him snacking away on a juicy peace of melon. 🍉🐿

Prepare for landing 🐝
Shot with ambient light only, using an adapted Diaplan Projection lens from the 1960's.
To expand the rather shallow DOF of this 80mm f/2.8 prime lens, I built in an aperture mechanism when I adapted this lens for macro photography and over the past few weeks it has become one of my favourite lenses!
I'm looking forward to more testing and to recording a video about this lens later on this summer...

This is another image from my experimentation with birefringent crystals. The colours in this image where produced with a technique called cross polarization.
Depending on the alignment of the polarizers and the molecular structure and local thickness of the crystal, interfering light waves produce colourful gradients such as in this image.
This particular shot shows Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) crystals at a magnification ratio of 4.5X.

A tiny Common Pollen Beetle on the stamen of a crocus flower.
It's just crazy to think that this flower is as high as a mounain for us humans, in ralation to this insects size.
The orange grains that that are attached to it are actual pollen grains, just to give you an idea of how small this beetle really is.

Shot on my Canon 6DII with the Laowa 2.5-5X extreme Macro lens.
EXIF: f/3.5, 1/125th, ISO100
