Drive by Arch. Okay, so this is a complicated one. When we went to scout locations during the day, I spotted this arch not far from the road and knew the direction would be good for the Milky Way. We had a quick look and checked the foreground...all looked really nice. However, when we came back in the night, it turned out that it's a popular night spot after all, and someone was already there, shooting the comp most people seem to take (found quite a few photos by now). He was cool and let us pass so we could get our own foregrounds, but we couldn't really stay and shoot everything there, and coming back was no option either.
To make matters worse, it was a mixture of cars occasionally lighting up the scene and not knowing how many shots were needed to get it all in focus and, of course, I didn't take enough. A few minutes after we were done, we arrived at the next location and, right away, I shot the sky but decided to try my first focal length blend with this photo, as I wasn't able to get the exact shot on location anymore. I ended up with two variations and couldn't decide which I liked better, so if you swipe, you can see both. And if I return, I'll stay until it's perfect, but, for now, I like these despite all the complaints. 😀
