Cygnus Tower! In the summer, it's usually the core that's the target. However, when I turned around that night, looking for the 360° panorama spot I scouted earlier, I saw the 'other end' of the Milky Way lined up nicely with this rock and flower formation.
I thought climbing up that rock would be a good idea...well, selfies are weird (unless you're Blair Adamson and know what you're doing). Still like how it came out and had some nice airglow.

Well...that was something. Not what I thought, but good fun nonetheless. Think I enjoyed the weird twilight the most (besides the company). Initially, I was a little disappointed about the clouds coming in, but they also added something I now like. Swipe for a few close-up shots!

Pointy Thing. Quick intermission from Tenerife, with a shot from near a road, that accidentally helped a lot with (actually unwanted) lighting of the scene. Liked this one a lot and still have a few other photos I'll post over the next few weeks. The only 360° I took during the Starlight Adventures trip this year. Got quite a bit of airglow but mostly loved this bay with the trees and boats. Added a bit of freshly captured ha for the fun of it. Also the first post with my relatively new VILTROX 𝘖𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵 lena. Swipe for a few more details!

A tricky window! Sometimes, you're drawn towards something that's complicated and messy, and you still find it interesting enough to give it a shot, literally. This is what happened with this one. Scouted during the day, and then had serious trouble finding it again in the dark. I was so disappointed and was about to give up, shot something right next to it, which was also fun, and then took a few little steps to the left...and there it was again. Close enough to how I envisioned it and happy with the outcome. Good times during the Starlight Adventures a few weeks ago.

Thyme and Thyme again! On this year's Starlight Adventures trip, I went to this tree with a mission...find a way to put it in scene, ideally with some beautiful Greek thyme. I got lucky! I spent a bit framing this up and turned it into a massive vertorama, a vertical panorama, shot on the beloved and heavy 40mm lens. Focus stacking at night is tricky, and I already took more shots than I planned...still a few parts could have done with even more photos. However, I'm very happy with how this came out! Drive by Arch. Okay, so this is a complicated one. When we went to scout locations during the day, I spotted this arch not far from the road and knew the direction would be good for the Milky Way. We had a quick look and checked the foreground...all looked really nice. However, when we came back in the night, it turned out that it's a popular night spot after all, and someone was already there, shooting the comp most people seem to take (found quite a few photos by now). He was cool and let us pass so we could get our own foregrounds, but we couldn't really stay and shoot everything there, and coming back was no option either.
To make matters worse, it was a mixture of cars occasionally lighting up the scene and not knowing how many shots were needed to get it all in focus and, of course, I didn't take enough. A few minutes after we were done, we arrived at the next location and, right away, I shot the sky but decided to try my first focal length blend with this photo, as I wasn't able to get the exact shot on location anymore. I ended up with two variations and couldn't decide which I liked better, so if you swipe, you can see both. And if I return, I'll stay until it's perfect, but, for now, I like these despite all the complaints. 😀

Green and red airglow in ripples...first thought my camera was broken or clouds coming through, but when I realised what was going on, I was very happy with my 360° panorama timing. This one's from last year's Starlight Adventures and one of the very few selfies I committed to. Those rocks have sharp edges and are good fun to balance on, especially during the night (and particularly on the small rock I stood on). Swipe for a bit more detail!

Sand...so much of it, everywhere, clothes, shoes, camera gear... 😀 However, to me, it's also a thing of summer, warm, sea and being away, taking your mind off things, and just enjoying nature and a calm time.
I just got back from another round of awesome Starlight Adventures and, although this one's already from two years ago, I still wanted to post it as it represents that feeling quite well (and I might still need a minute to edit the new images).

About ten days ago, I finally got to spend a few nights under the stars...with Ashley Welch and Hesham in Tenerife! My main mission was to find pointy things, also known as Tajinaste. Since the first time I saw one in a night image, I knew I wanted to have a photo with at least one of them. We were lucky and found a few (thanks to Anastasia | ASTRO & LANDSCAPE ), and especially this duo looked great. Wind was a bit of an issue as these things are also much bigger than we thought, but with lots of trial and error, we got a few shots we liked.
This one was also a rare opportunity to get the TTARTISAN 11mm fisheye out. Since I saw how often Anthony Lopez | Astrophotographer uses his...I gave it a go and like the outcome. Good times!
