Before this year’s opened to the public, we had the opportunity to
meet and portrait the award winners during the final stages of the exhibition.

Inside the quiet galleries of , conversations moved between artworks, spaces
and the last curatorial decisions. It was an exciting chance to experience an exhibition before
visitors arrived.

This year’s award, initiated by and , brings together three
distinct photographic positions.
Viktoria Binschtok (.binschtok) explores
contemporary image culture, Harald Kirschner ( ) documents social realities
and urban transformation, while Jay Ritchie (ritchie) reflects on identity through
intimate portraiture. Different approaches, united by a shared connection to Leipzig.

The remarkable architecture of was as always an essential part of the whole
experience.
As part of the visit, and .sachsen also invited us to BMW Leipzig, where we photographed the artists beneath Zaha Hadid’s iconic Central Building.

Vor der Eröffnung des BMW Photo Award Leipzig durften wir die drei Gewinner:innen
(.binschtok, HaraldKirschner, ritchie) während der letzten Vorbereitungen im
begleiten und porträtieren.
⠀
Zwischen Werken, Architektur und den letzten Hängungen entstand ein spannender Einblick
in den Moment, bevor eine Ausstellung für Besucher:innen ihre endgültige Form annimmt.

Anschließend führte uns gemeinsam mit .sachsen ins BMW Werk
Leipzig, wo wir die Künstler:innen vor Zaha Hadids ikonischem Zentralgebäude fotografieren
konnten - insgesamt enstand so ein spannender Dialog zwischen Fotografie, Architektur und
Industrie.
