The first print of a limited edition series of Vintage Life which forms part of my entry to the Royal Academy of Arts 2024 Summer Exhibition.

Made with one of the world's last working large format Polaroid cameras on a sheet of 40 year old 20x24 inch Polaroid film, the combination creates a unique cast and set of artefacts on each print that makes it special and impossible to recreate.

Originally captured on a Nikon F100 with Ilford HP5 film Vintage Life has picked up four awards, including a category win in the Architecture MasterPrize and an honorable mention in the International Photography Awards, and has been exhibited at FotoNostrum as a part of the 18th Pollux Awards.

The Artist's Proof of this print (which looked completely different!) was exhibited at The Other Art Fair presented by Saatchi Art and bought by a UK art collector.

Westkreuz Station
On the outskirts of Berlin, Westkreuz Station is a major interchange of seven different S-Bahn lines and straddles four different city districts, yet is one of the most sparsely populated areas of the city so is frequently deserted; unless there is an exhibition on at the nearby Messe Berlin.

Taken with a Hasselblad X1D, and one of my entries for this year's Architecture MasterPrize, I hope Westkreuz Station is the successor to last year's Best of the Best award winner Liverpool Street Station.

I don’t normally shoot sports, but when I was invited to Wimbledon I had to bring my Hasselblad.

Watching Djokovic and Hurkacz on centre court was a treat, and shooting with my X1D and a 90mm lens from the debenture seats gives a better perspective of the game than the “working photographers” in the trenches with their 800mm.
