Luzia Simons - En Passant
Opening this weekend at Mönchehaus Museum Goslar.
“En Passant” reimagines the garden as a site of memory, migration, and meaning. Through photography, installation, and drawing, Luzia weaves together botanical narratives, personal histories, and cultural crossings.
The exhibition centers on Luzia’s latest series while also presenting significant works from the past three decades. Highlights include key series such as “Stockage” (2009–2019), “Humboldt ist niemals da gewesen” (2013), and “Camera Obscura” (1998), a series created using historical pinhole camera technology.
It also debuts new works produced during her 2024 residency at Instituto Bardi in São Paulo. Working in the tropical garden of Lina Bo Bardi’s iconic “Casa de Vidro”, Luzia deepens her exploration of cultural heritage, ecological fragility, and the transformation of landscapes.
