1987 Renault 4 Fourgonnette. While the Renault 4’s successor (the Renault Express/Extra van) began replacing them on the An Post front lines in the late 1980s and early ‘90s, a few remaining R4s lingered on rural delivery routes for a few extra years due to their sheer reliability and popularity with drivers. By the close of the 1990s, modernization and stricter emission standards officially retired the last green R4s from active daily service, cementing them as a nostalgic piece of Irish postal history.

Land Rover Defender 90. Produced between 1984 and 1996.
When the very first Land Rover was designed back in 1947, the post-war steel shortage meant the creators had to use surplus aluminum cockpit material from fighter jets to build the body.

Land Rover Defender 90 Td5. Produced sometime between 1998 to 2006. Left-hand-drive from France, produced in Solihull, England. The Td5 is a legendary 2.5-litre, 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine that Land Rover introduced to replace the older Tdi engines.
