Persons Projects (formerly Gallery Taik Persons) was established in 1995 in Helsinki Finland. It is the prime gallery for those selected artists who now make up what is known as the "Helsinki School". It has grown into one of the leading photographic galleries in northern Europe with its permanent exhibition space situated in Berlin since 2003.

🌟 We warmly invite you to join us at Paris Photo 2026, held at the Grand Palais in Paris.

Persons Projects is delighted to present a selection of works by our represented artists, with several pieces on view for the very first time.

Our presentation will feature major works by Zofia Kulik, Nanna Hänninen and Santeri Tuori, alongside new and unique pieces by Milja Laurila and Jyrki Parantainen. We will also present recent works by Eeva Karhu, Sandra Kantanen and Mikko Rikala.

In line with this year’s Elles x Paris Photo program, dedicated to women artists, we are pleased to present Zofia Kulik’s large-scale work Ambassadors of the Past. The work reinterprets Hans Holbein the Younger’s iconic painting, replacing its scientific and musical instruments with photographic equipment and everyday objects from communist-era Poland.

⁠
As we prepare for Paris Photo, we’re excited to share a glimpse into the thinking and making behind the works you’ll encounter at the fair.⁠
⁠
In ‘Cognitive Shift,’ Mikko Rikala questions the importance we give to the constant flow of daily news. Using pages of the Financial Times, he softens their visual presence through Japanese washi paper, reducing the noise and urgency of information that may dominate our attention one day and disappear the next. Against this muted flow of information, Rikala places his photographs of natural phenomena, recurring cycles and everyday observations. Inspired by the idea of longue durée, which looks beyond immediate events toward long-term processes, the series brings together two notions of time: the linear, event-driven time of the news and the cyclical time of nature. When these two modes of time come together, they generate new meanings and invite alternative ways of seeing the world.⁠

💥 As part of Berlin Art Week 2026, Persons Projects is proud to present ‘Rhizome,’ a solo exhibition by Paweł Książek, bringing together the black-and-white drawings of his ‘Narrations’ series and a selection of new paintings. The exhibition unfolds as a collection of ideas, images, and associations rather than a single, linear story. Visual form and language enter into dialogue, creating a space where the visual and the written coexist in tension and resonance.⁠
⁠
The title ‘Rhizome’ refers to the philosophical concept developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, describing an open structure that develops in many directions without a fixed beginning or end. Książek’s exhibition follows this principle: each work remains autonomous while forming part of a wider network of thoughts, memories, and references.⁠
⁠
The black-and-white drawings of the ‘Narration’ series bring together image and text, Fragments of bodies, faces, mechanical forms, textures, and undefined landscapes move between figuration and abstraction. They appear almost as images retrieved from memory or a subconscious archive, suspended between recognition and disappearance. The accompanying texts do not explain or describe the images. Instead, words and images exist as parallel forms of thought, occasionally meeting and influencing one another while retaining their independence.⁠

As we prepare for CHART, we’re excited to share moments from our artists’ studios, offering a glimpse into the thinking and making behind the works you’ll encounter at the fair.⁠
⁠
Beyond the actual shooting, most of Jussi Nahkuri’s working time is spent at the computer in his digital studio. There, he combines hundreds, sometimes thousands, of individual images into a cohesive visual surface, where the captured span of time, sequence of events, or performance takes on a new form. He also iterates and builds 3D models of the artworks to test how the image surface behaves when applied to a three-dimensional object. So, essentially, a lot of pixel pushing.⁠

We are very happy to announce Timothy Persons’ return to his artistic practice after nearly three decades, with ‘Dreamscapes,’ a new series of ceramic sculptures to be presented for the first time at CHART 2026 in Copenhagen.⁠
⁠
The return to the studio is not about looking back. Dreamscapes picks up a dialogue that Persons began in Southern California in the late 1970s, when he approached ceramics beyond the traditional boundaries of the medium, bringing together sculpture, painting, and drawing. Almost thirty years later, he returns to these ideas from a new perspective.⁠
⁠
Dreamscapes combine hand-built ceramic vessels with painterly and graphic surfaces. Colour, line, texture, and construction become equally important, transforming each work into a sculptural landscape — somewhere between something remembered, imagined, and dreamed.⁠
⁠
Timothy Persons (b. 1954, Narvik, Norway) is a US-American artist, curator, and writer raised in Southern California. Educated under Paul Soldner in the tradition established by Peter Voulkos, Persons developed his ceramic practice from the late 1970s through the 1990s. After moving to Finland, he increasingly dedicated himself to curating and education and became internationally recognized as the founder of The Helsinki School.⁠

As we prepare for CHART, we’re excited to share moments from our artists’ studios, offering a glimpse into the thinking and making behind the works you’ll encounter at the fair.⁠
⁠
In this video, Jyrki Parantainen shows us the process of creating his new work ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ by connecting words to various parts of the image through the use of pins and taut brass wires. This way, he maps the visual space, creating tension throughout the work.⁠
⁠
Parantainen reinterprets the original illustrations with dark humor, satire, and irony. His work engages deeply with cultural and art history, touching on political and social themes, and reflects a strong interest in everything that lies beyond the everyday. His references range widely, from cinema to biblical imagery.⁠
