Something healed in me last night. ✨

On a dark night during some dark times in 199something, we turned on MTV - I assume - and there he was : Jamiroquai, with this video: Virtual Reality. Time stopped and we all just stared at the telly, in awe. What was that?!!! Nobody had ever seen anything like it before. And the sound!!!
For me it left an everlasting impression and a soundtrack, also with other songs like half the man - good god, that video is my all time all time, you know what I mean, ouff! - and all this happened at a time where I was kicking a couple of rather bad habits and feeling utterly lost and this song and the whole Jamiroquai vibe came along and lifted me up. I don’t exactly remember which hotel in Berlin we were in, except it was close to zoo station, or what my NA friend’s name was, but I do remember exactly how this sound and video made me feel: exhilarated and sad at the same time. Somewhat bittersweet.
I had left behind my marriage and my Rock’n Roll life in the US with no idea what the future would bring. If there even was gonna be one.

So when I cried and danced last night during Virtual Reality, at the end of a brilliant two and a half hour show, those were liberating and freeing tears. It has all come to a full circle and all is good.

Thank you, the ever so sweet Paul Turner, for making it happen, for great seats and a photo pass I didn’t know I needed so badly.

Thank you Jay Kay for you and your music and rocking and dancing and belting it out. Yes, my brain also writes checks my legs have a hard time cashing at times. And we are still here!

Thank you to the staff at Uber Arena who were all so sweet and accommodating. Even though I have still been shooting musicians and bands these past years, mostly for my book, it was my first time in a long time just doing the 3 (2 for Jamiroquai) songs no flash thang in the pit and it was so fun!

Achtung Bono!
Happy Birthday to the fabulous frontman of U2! I loved them since the very early 80s, was in Berlin when they recorded the album Achtung Baby at Hansa Studios in Berlin and got to see and photograph the show in New Jersey, out of all places. 1992.

Robert Cray: I got the good fortune of working with Albert Collins, you know, a little bit earlier. So he probably had a big influence on my style. But - there was a whole lot of other people who've had a big influence too, because you know, you've got B.B. King, who speaks to you with such eloquence. And you have Albert King with all his fire and passion, and I don't think anybody could pull strings like Albert King. And it's really strange, too, these guys were actually portraying their personality. A big-statured person like Albert King played a big-sounding guitar. The gentleman that B.B. King is, he speaks to you in a gentlemanly way. And it goes on and on for all the other guitar players Buddy Guy can be real frantic, and sometimes that's his personality. Otis Rush, mysterious man, plays a mysterious minor-key style blues that I like. So everybody had their different things, and those were the kind of things I liked listening to from different guitar players.

Noa‘s old school is holding a fundraiser. My donation of my alltime favoured Lenny Kravitz is still available at a steal!!! That‘s a fiber hand print, signed and framed. I would have asked double for it. Go get it if you live in Colorado, don’t think they will ship.
