It was truly a pleasure meeting Johanna Rüdiger in person yesterday, and many thanks to her for arranging this wonderful get-together for the Festival of Lights.

I’m a man of few words, but I have to say, Johanna has been a true bridge for international students and young people here in Germany. I’ve quietly followed her work for a long time, and some of her videos helped me a lot when I first needed the right information at the right time.

She’s one of the most humble and genuine people I’ve met here, see you soon,

And of course, it was a pleasure meeting all of you as well, sorry if I forgot anyone’s name!

Henry – A Story of Art, Survival, and Dignity on the Streets of Berlin

I want to introduce you to someone you’ve probably walked past before,
but never really seen.

This is Henry Klinger, a Chilean-born musician who has made the streets of Berlin his stage, his shelter, and his sanctuary. He’s not just a ā€œhomeless man with a guitar.ā€ He’s a storyteller, a philosopher, a survivor, someone whose existence isn’t defined by where he sleeps, but by what he sings.

I spent weeks documenting Henry’s world. Not just by taking pictures, but by listening. Sitting. Walking. Observing. Learning.

His guitar is named ā€œMargarita.ā€
He plays every day, through wind, rain, and silence.
He’s never asked for money.
He only hopes someone stops to listen.

This project, Art and Survival, is about dignity, not charity. It’s about reframing how we look at people who live in spaces we often ignore. It’s about seeing art not as luxury, but as survival.

Each photo is a frame of resilience. Each string Henry strums is a reminder:
Even without a roof, you can have a voice.

I didn’t document Henry to make him a subject.
I did it because he’s a person.
And like every human being, he deserves to be seen.

šŸ–¤
Please take a moment to see Henry, not just in pixels, but in presence.

No one’s going to save you from your pain.
You can’t outrun it, numb it, or talk it away. It stays.
And the only way forward is through it.

You survive by facing it.
You carry it, learn from it, and let it change you.
Not to break you, but to build you.

One day, you’ll look back and realize:
You didn’t escape the darkness
You outgrew it.

Because inside you, there’s always been something real.
You’re not broken. You’re becoming.
Everything you need is already in you.

šŸ–¤ Art and Survival: A Story from the Streets of Berlin šŸŽø
ā€œI play to breathe. I sing to survive.ā€
-Henry Klinger

Henry is not just a man with a guitar. He is a former footballer from Chile, a radio host, a husband, and a son. He is a musician whose life spiraled from stages to street corners, from Paris restaurants to Berlin train stations, and through it all, he never stopped creating.

I had the privilege of spending time with Henry and documenting his story, not as a case study, but as an artist to another. What began as a photography project became something far more personal: a quiet testimony of what it means to lose everything, and still choose to give.

This video is for Henry, but also for the many unseen artists around us, those who perform not for applause, but for survival, for healing, for dignity.

Let this story sit with you.
Let it remind us that art doesn’t always come from comfort; sometimes it comes from the edge of survival.

A special thanks to Michel Villalobos for the translation and for being in contact with Henry.

To everyone who had doubts or concerns about where the donated money is going, we want to provide full transparency.

We received €3,533.85 from GoFundMe and have already transferred €3,581.78 directly to the university’s official account. Screenshots of both transactions are attached for verification.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who has donated and supported this cause so far. Your generosity has already made a real impact.

However, the situation remains critical. We still urgently need €12,000 to clear the remaining tuition balance and prevent the university from proceeding with expulsion and reporting the case to immigration authorities.

This is a time-sensitive situation. The university is waiting for the next payment, and any further delays could have serious consequences for this student’s future.

If you can contribute, no amount is too small. Even a few euros or simply sharing this post with others can help us move closer to our goal.

Here is the official, verified donation link:

Thank you again to everyone who has shown understanding, compassion, and support.

šŸ†˜ Emergency Appeal A Student in Crisis Needs Our Support šŸ†˜

Assalam o Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,

We’re reaching out on behalf of a fellow student in Berlin who came to Germany full of dreams, working hard to fund his education. Through countless odd jobs, he managed to pay over €20,000 of his tuition on his own.

But after a serious accident that left him unable to work, his life took a heartbreaking turn. He fell behind on fees, and now the university is threatening to expel him, report him to immigration, and hand his case to debt collectors.

Since November 2024, we have been trying to raise awareness and support. This month, thanks to respected members of the Pakistani community in Berlin and Minhaj-ul-Quran, the case has been officially verified. Even the university is aware and involved.

So far, we have raised around €4,000, Alhamdulillah, but the total remaining is €12,000, and time is running out.

This brother never wanted to go public or ask for help. He didn’t come here to beg; he came to build a future. But no one can plan for an accident.

This is not just a donation, it’s a lifeline.

If you could help a fellow student through their darkest moment, would you look away?
It doesn’t take much to change a life. Will you be that change today?

Assalam o Alaikum everyone!!

As most of you know there has been a post going around for the past two days about a gofundme campaign. This campaign actually started in november 2024 but it is only now getting attention and that is because some responsible people took this case seriously. We are very thankful to all of them.

Special thanks to Imran ul Haq Sahab from Minhaj ul Quran Berlin, Sharique Javed, Ashab Ali, Naila Bhatti and other respected community members who took time to verify the case.

With just two days of your support we were able to collect 3,000 euros, Alhamdulillah! But the real success is that even those who were unsure at first verified and approved the campaign and shared it in their groups. Now the campaign is posted in the groups Pakistanis in Deutschland and Bazm-e-Berlin.

We kindly request that if you are in these groups please comment and share the post so it can reach even more people.

Also a big thank you to everyone who has donated or shared it so far. We really appreciate that you understood our friend’s situation. We will keep posting updates and once the target is reached (16,000 euros) the funds will go directly to the university’s account. We will also share screenshots to give you peace of mind that your donations are being used correctly!

Please share, it will make a big difference!
JazakAllah!
