and festival is underway here in Berlin. The past years have always been an interesting and enlightening mix of art, music, technology and interesting panels of professional individuals noodling on deep and relevant topics. I will avoid going into politics here, but it’s worth mentioning that there is a sinister air of authoritarianism permeating into our free liberal lives. Antisemitism, anti-Muslim racism, xenophobia, censorship,boycotts, inexplicable loss of funding for artistic projects and/or cultural institutions. We must resist those that are in positions of power that use intimidation and advocate for violence to subjugate their fellow humans. Freedom of speech, artistic expression, difficult conversations, various points of view, have never been more important in my lifetime, than right now. So, I spent 9 months recently living in Ashram in Coimbatore, Southern India. I was invited to be part of an intensive program, practicing yoga, learning a form of meditation and also volunteering as a photographer and video editor with the Ashrams media team. It was my first time in India and I completely fell in love. I found the culture to be incredibly inclusive and friendly, so colorful, so festive and such a celebration of life. I’m already planning a return trip!

But before that happens, I got biz to take care of in Berlin and more photos of India coming soon…

Despite a pandemic. Despite it being the shortest and darkest day of the year. My little model and I, we made the best of it. With Bebe all bundled, open space and fresh air, the pandemic has made us have to adapt. And so where I may have shot in the comforts of my studio last year, now the pandemic has brought me outside, and you know what, I loved every minute of it! I mean... look at the BeBe! Even if the sun was only up for, what felt 10 minutes yesterday, I took no ray of sunshine for granted.

If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, happy winter Solstice. May the returning of light bring a glimmer of hope and warmth on what was a very uncertain year.
