TUM Tower during Moon Rise

After some thunderstorms tonight the weather was well again for the Moon rise at midnight. So I thought it would be nice to photograph the tower of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) with the Moon behind. The clouds create a great mystical mood to the image.

The Sandstone Rock and the Pine Tree

We climbed up the Schrammsteine on this day in February to watch the sunset. Unfortunately, there wasn't much Sun, however the light provided us some interesting onto the sandstone rocks.

Breakfast Time

My first ever seen Kingfisher

Today I experienced another first time event of my life: Seeing a kingfisher bird for real. These birds became very rare in the past years due to the destruction of their habitats around the world by humans. We need to protect these beautiful creatures with all our force!

Inside an Artistic Neutrino Detector

This is a picture of an art installation at the Reaktorhalle of TUM in Munich, modelling the IceCube neutrino detector at the South Pole.

This is a picture of an artistic model of the IceCube neutrino detector at the South Pole, displayed in the Reaktorhalle of the Technische Universität Munich. The artist build this model with light and sound effect. Unfortunately, it didn't display real science, but an own interpretation of the art...

Sunday morning I decided to get up at 4:45am to do a 7.5km hike up the Hausdorfer Höhe, a viewing point from which one can see the castle Augustusburg and the two highest mountains of the ore mountains in the background: the Fichtelberg (in Germany) on the right and the Keilberg (in Czech Republic) on the left. Luckily the weather was great and cold (-3C) to see them nicely in the distance. This image is a composite of two pictures, one at sunrise and one during the night to capture the artificial lights on the buildings. At 7:30am I hiked back and had a great breakfast at 9am after a wonderful outdoor experience.
