Doing the final testing now to get the shipping dates and costs sorted out for both Amazon.com and Amazon.de.

Once that’s finished, the next step will be a massive upload of new artwork to Amazon. The goal is to make a much larger selection of my photography available while keeping the process as smooth as possible for customers in both North America and Europe.

I have to say, getting original photography and fine-art prints onto Amazon has been far more complicated than I expected. Between marketplace approvals, GTIN exemptions, shipping settings, and getting multiple systems to work together, it’s definitely been a learning experience.

But things are finally starting to come together.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll begin seeing more wildlife, landscape, travel, macro, and nature photographs added to the shop. Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far and helped me work through the challenges of building it from the ground up.

I was walking back to the car just as a thunderstorm began when I spotted this little Goldammer tucked into an apple tree, trying to shelter from the rain.

The wind was picking up, the leaves were already wet, and the sky was getting darker by the minute. Hidden among all that deep green, its bright yellow feathers stood out like a small patch of sunlight waiting for the storm to pass.

Today I officially have my photography prints available on Amazon Germany.

Over the next few days, I’ll be adding more images and then expanding into additional Amazon marketplaces in other countries.

At the moment, the process is simple: when you place an order through Amazon, it is sent to the closest print lab within my production network. Your print is then professionally produced and shipped directly to you.

As everything gets up and running, many more images will be added to my shops. The collection isn’t limited to wildlife photography either. You’ll also find landscapes, travel photography, macro work, abstract images, and much more.

Side note: If anyone is thinking about connecting Shopify and Amazon without using UPC codes, be prepared for a headache. Getting the two systems to talk to each other properly has probably been one of the most frustrating parts of this whole project. There has been a lot of trial and error, but it finally looks like everything is starting to work.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my photography journey so far. It’s exciting to see these images reaching new places and new homes.

Not every wildlife photo is just beautiful — sometimes it is also a warning.

This is an oak processionary moth caterpillar. I photographed it using a 200–600mm lens so I could keep a safe distance and avoid getting too close to the nest.

They are starting to hatch now, so be careful in the woods — especially around oak trees and visible webbing on the bark.

Their fine hairs can irritate the skin, eyes, and breathing system. Even old nests or leftover hairs can still be a problem. Do not touch them, do not disturb the nest, and keep children and dogs away.

Nature is not always cute or gentle. Sometimes it is fascinating — but also something to respect from a safe distance.

I was reading a discussion in a photography group this morning about whether every photograph has to tell a story.

My answer is both yes and no.

Every image tells a story, but not necessarily the same story to everyone who views it.

Sometimes the story is obvious. A parent bird feeding its young, a fox hunting at sunrise, or a deer standing in the morning mist. Other times, the story is much more personal. It may remind someone of a place they visited, a memory from childhood, a favorite animal, or simply a feeling they can’t quite put into words.

I’ve shared photographs that I thought were some of my best work and received little attention. Then I’ve posted images that I almost didn’t share at all, only to have people tell me how much they connected with them.

That’s one of the things I love about photography. Once an image leaves the camera and is shared with others, it no longer belongs entirely to the photographer. Every person who sees it brings their own experiences, memories, and emotions to that photograph.

Not every image has to tell a grand story. Sometimes the story is simply beauty. Sometimes it’s curiosity. Sometimes it’s a moment of peace in an otherwise busy day.

As photographers, we often spend too much time worrying about whether everyone will understand what we were trying to say. The truth is, they don’t have to. If an image means something to even one person, then it has already done its job.

I’d be curious to hear your thoughts. Does every photograph need a story, or is it enough that it makes you stop and look for a moment?

Great spotted woodpecker feeding time.

This is one of the reasons I wanted the Sony A7 V — the speed and pre-capture make a real difference with moments like this. With wildlife, the best part can happen before you even fully react.

I set the camera up on the tripod, started recording, and walked about 50 meters away to give them space. After that, I just had to hope the framing was right.

A quick visit, a hungry little one, and a small moment from the woods that would be easy to miss.

For a while now, I’ve wanted to do something special for the followers who have been here from the beginning and continue to interact with my content. I know Facebook doesn’t always show every post to everyone, but there are a few people who consistently take the time to like, comment, and support my work.

With that in mind, I’d like to announce Marcus R. Hill as this month’s winner.

Marcus, please visit the shop at Hubbard.art and have a look through the available prints. Most of the images you see on Facebook are available, but not every image will be suitable for a medium or larger print size. If you’re unsure about a particular image, just ask and I’ll be happy to check.

Please leave a comment on this post so I know you’ve seen it. Once you’ve decided which image you’d like, send me a private message with the details and I’ll get it printed and shipped to you.

Thank you, Marcus, for your continued support, and thank you to everyone else who follows along, comments, shares, and enjoys the journey with me.

This is something I’d like to continue, so I’ll be selecting another follower each month as a small way of saying thank you.

Please note that Limited Edition prints and Conservation Edition prints are not eligible for giveaways.

Amazing how fast they grow. Just a few days ago these young woodpeckers were barely visible, and now they’re already stretching out of the nest entrance waiting for food.

In this clip, one of the parents stops by with a meal before immediately heading off again. The whole exchange takes only a few seconds. No matter how long I watch them, I’m still amazed at how quickly the parents can find food, return to the nest, and be gone again.
