Altán Klamovka (est. 2004) is a not-for-profit gallery focused on international collaboration and projects in drawing, site-specific art, performance, and new media. For Extended Presence, curated by Lenka Sýkorová, the gallery brings together Czech artist Michal Poustka, American artists Ismael de Anda III and Eugene Ahn, and Macedonian artist Laze Tripkov.
Extended Presence explores the porous boundaries between physical and virtual existence — between data and the body, between what is sensed and what is imagined. The artists create immersive environments in which memory, gesture, and digital code intertwine, forming landscapes of hybrid presence where the viewer becomes both observer and participant.
Laze Tripkov’s Virtual Poster: Dialogue of Tradition and Tech- nology reimagines cultural heritage through XR and haptic interfaces, transforming the ancient Glagolitic alphabet into a dynamic field of sensory experience. Ismael de Anda III and Eugene Ahn’s Hinges of the Western Hemisphere expands the notion of site-specificity through aerial footage and augmented reality, situating the viewer within layered narratives of migration, displacement, and belonging. Michal Poustka’s performative interventions, Bias Protocol, trace the fluid boundaries between cognition and perception, constructing environments that oscillate between presence and simulation.

home fractured
with the ring of the yellowing bakelite phone
harbinger
alien english accent can I speak to your mother
i watched as she listened and silently imploded

skidded slippered
two kids and newly acquired widow status
she was out the door.

from fireside to freezing in an instant

breathless without
lung or husband
she ran downhill on ice
my brother and i trying to keep her from falling
when she thought she could fall no further

we held her
suddenly old
10 yrs old to the right 6yrs old to the left
breath from her remaining resilient lung frozen
like a cartoon bubble

child to adult
white to black
silence and mantra-praying
new year saw in survivors and
a childhood left behind'

'On New Year’s Eve 1976 my aunt, Monica McCavera, a fashion buyer, working in Brown Thomas in Dublin, came north to bring in the New Year with my mother, brother and I, as my father had died that year. She also went to Belfast to visit friends. When she got back to her car, parked on the corner of Joy Street and
Sussex Place, a bomb had been planted. The no warning device exploded and she lost both her legs. I was 10. This work explores generational traces left behind.'

Anne McAlarney is a visual artist based in Co. Down. Her work explores tensions between the lost and found. Ethereal phenomena and ideas are traversed and transformed, fusing sculpture, photography, word play, drawing, painting and more recently video. She intersperses abstraction with reflective analytical thoughts, using voice sounds as language but also an anti-language. Proximity of voice and image to
construct a changed language, a glimpse into another knowledge or type of knowledge. The visible and invisible, always in transition, are asserted within the work she produces. She is a recipient of the Alice Berger Hammerschlag Award 2021, ACNI SIAP Award 2022, ACNI Travel Award 2022, Siobhan McQuade Memorial Painting prize Ulster University 2023, Centre for Contemporary Art Award 2023, NMDDC Bursary for the Tyrone Guthrie Centre 2023. Her poetry has been included in The Cultural Afterlife of Ruins, Making The Future Project and in the anthology Visions (The Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing). She is a member of Artlink, Interface and graduate of Ulster University B.A. Fine Art Hons. 2013 and MFA 2023
Distinction. Her work has been selected for exhibitions nationally within Ireland. Beyond Silence Listened For, her first solo exhibition internationally, was in Galleri Kronborg, Bergen, Norway 2022. Forthcoming exhibitions CCA Derry 2024 and Down Arts Centre 2025.

From opening of exhibition Here, The Considered!

A huge thank you to everybody that made it out yesterday to the opening of Here, The Considered Line in association with Clifden Arts Festival and curated by Lenka Sykorová.
We were delighted to be joined by Paul Fahy who very kindly opened the festival for us, great to see so many of our wonderful community of member artists and friends as well.

The exhibtion will run from Sept 16th - 28th, 12-6 daily.

An international exhibition exploring the medium of contemporary drawing. The exhibition forms part of the international collaboration between artist-run spaces Altán Klamovka Gallery and Interface.

Artists Noel Arrigan (IE), Thomas Brezing (IE), Michael Geddis (IE), Marija Griniuk (LT), Lelia Henry (IE), Margaret Irwin (IE), Jiří Kovanda (CZ), Darja Lukjanenko (UA), Anne McAlarney (IE), Jan Pfeiffer (CZ), Christine Prescott (IE) and Ian Wieczorek (IE) will be presented at the exhibition. Curator Lenka Sýkorová (CZ).

Drawing provides space where we can slow down. We can also think through drawing, entering a full perception of the here and now.

We dream of mountains. We want to conquer them, reach the summit and be the kings of the world. But as we climb them, we understand the infinitesimality of our own size and their indifference to us. Walking through the crevices, valleys, and ledges high up in the mountain range, the ragged landscape brings us further into its realm and further away from our own world. The vista beneath us becomes but a fleeting dream from which not even the slightest of sounds can be heard.

Sníme o horách. Chceme je dobýt, dosáhnout vrcholu a být králi světa. Ale jak na ně stoupáme, chápeme nekonečnost naší vlastní velikosti a jejich lhostejnost vůči nám. Při procházce průrvami, údolími a převisy, vysoko v pohoří nás drsná krajina přivádí dále do své říše a dále od našeho vlastního světa. Výhled pod námi se tak stává jen prchavým snem, ze kterého není slyšet ani ten nejmenší zvuk.
