Meteor over the Milky Way 📸

Don’t miss this year’s Perseids! This big meteor shower will have its maximum on Tuesday and Wednesday. Look at the sky around midnight, or, in the best case, go to a dark place to have even better conditions! You can spot hundreds of meteors per hour.

Jupiter and moons!

Take a closer look at this picture. Do you see that? These 4 dots next to the Jupiter are his own satellites - known as Galilean moons. These are (from left) Callisto, Europa, Io and Ganymede. This close approach with our moon happened at 5th of July.

Noctilucent Clouds 📸

Noctilucent clouds, or night shining clouds, are tenuous cloud-like phenomena in the upper atmosphere of Earth. They consist of ice crystals and are only visible during astronomical twilight. Noctilucent roughly means "night shining" in Latin. They are most often observed during the summer months from latitudes between 50° and 70° north and south of the Equator. They are visible only during local summer months and when the Sun is below the observer's horizon, but while the clouds are still in sunlight.

They are the highest clouds in Earth's atmosphere, located in the mesosphere at altitudes of around 76 to 85 km (47 to 53 mi). They are too faint to be seen in daylight, and are visible only when illuminated by sunlight from below the horizon while the lower layers of the atmosphere are in Earth's shadow.

Reconstructed photo I toom during Lyrid meteor shower that occured this year. I moved the sky a little bit down and to the right since it was higher at that time. Nowdays the Cygnus is right above the head 📸

M O O N

Would you believe I took this photo with an iPhone? In fact, it's easy if you have right equipment to do so. I photographed this beautiful moon through the eyepiece of the Newton 12" 305/1500 telescope while observing the night sky in Beskid Mountains couple days ago.
