Jovana Rikalo photography Fine art photographer & director. Creating surreal stories and worlds. Instagram: Jovana Rikalo is a fine art & portrait photographer.

She is telling stories and use emotions to create a piece of art. Jovana likes pastel tones, fairytales and the surreal world. She uses her camera to make moments come alive - moments she’s experienced, as well as ones still waiting to happen. She is inspired by life, people and nature. She likes to make connections between people and nature, because that is where emotions are, she says. Magic can

only happen when we are connected. Jovana’s goal is for others to find themselves in her works, and to show people the new worlds she creates. Enjoy her journey.

🧚🏼‍♀️ From the moment we are born, we are connected.

As we grow, these connections change, evolve, and become deeper. But our connection with nature is something that stays with us throughout our entire lives.

We grow roots. And just like a tree, the strength of those roots depends on how deeply we nurture them. The more we care for them, the stronger and more grounded they become.

On September 6th, I’ll be hosting my first Fine Art Photography Masterclass in Belgium, at the beautiful Blauwhuis Castle in Izegem.

This will be an intimate, hands-on day where we’ll explore the creative and practical sides of Fine Art photography — from developing an idea to creating the final image.

✨ What we’ll cover:

We’ll begin with one hour of theory, where I’ll introduce my approach to Fine Art photography and share more about my creative process, storytelling, and how I turn an idea into a complete visual concept.

Then, we’ll move into the practical part of the day.

We’ll create two Fine Art scenes and a portrait session with professional models, working with both natural and artificial light.

Every participant will have dedicated 1:1 shooting time with the model, as well as personal time to ask questions and receive guidance.

I’ll take you through my complete workflow, including:

— Preparing and planning the set
— Working with models and directing poses
— Creating and communicating emotions
— Storytelling through portraits
— Working with natural & artificial light
— My approach to creating Fine Art imagery
— Editing and post-production

But Fine Art photography is not only about creating beautiful images.

We’ll also talk about the business side of photography — how to position yourself as an artist, attract the right audience and clients, and start selling your work both online and offline.

We’ll finish the day with a hands-on editing session and a short portfolio review, giving you the opportunity to receive feedback and discuss your own work.

This is my first time hosting a Masterclass in Belgium, and I’m keeping the group intentionally small so that everyone gets meaningful individual attention throughout the day.

Only 3 spots left.

If you feel this experience is for you, send me a DM, email me at [email protected], or contact our host, Jessy.

💦 Every summer, I take every chance I get to create photos in the water—it’s one of my biggest sources of inspiration.

🕯️What I love most isn’t just photographing, but designing the entire scene before anyone even steps into the water. Should it feel light and ethereal or dark and dramatic? Which colors will work best? What props will create the strongest visual impact?

That’s exactly why, inside my course, I explain which elements work beautifully in water and how to combine them to create striking, artistic images. Once you understand what works together, the creative process becomes so much easier—and you can shoot with much more confidence.

Comment WATER below to get the course with 20% off during the Summer Sale. 💙

✨The idea of Knights of Love had been on my mind for a long time, but in a completely different concept. However, bringing it to life turned out to be much more challenging than I had imagined.

🕯️ The costume itself weighs around 30 kg, while the helmet adds another 4 kg, making it incredibly difficult to wear and move in. Just getting dressed takes about 30 minutes, so if you think photographing in a costume like this is easy—it definitely isn’t.

Because of the heat (it was 30°C outside), the model could only stay in the costume for about 40 minutes before it became too exhausting.

🪐 I truly hope I’ll have the chance to photograph this concept again, this time the way I originally envisioned it. For now, this was just the beginning of a beautiful creative story with Tijana and Mike.

Sunset in lavender. 🪻

Do you know that magical hour when the sun slowly sinks below the horizon, ready to light up another part of the world? The moment when all you want to do is catch that fleeting magic and freeze it forever. 🌤️

Lavender has never been my favorite flower, yet there’s something enchanting about standing in a field of purple blooms as the golden light fades. Maybe it’s because moments like these don’t last long.

And perhaps that’s exactly what makes them so special.✨

Imagine planning a photoshoot in a poppy field. 🌸

You visit the location in the morning, everything looks perfect, and since poppies bloom for such a short time, you know you have to act fast.

Then, in the evening, when it’s time to shoot and your model has arrived for a paid project, you realize the poppies are gone. Completely gone. 🥹

That moment when you know you have no choice but to move forward because cancelling isn’t an option.

That moment when Plan B has to take over.🫢

The kind of moment that reminds you to grow as a creative and accept that not everything is within your control. Sometimes nature has plans of its own.

While editing these images, I caught myself thinking:
Well, everyone has photographed red and purple poppies. But how many people have photographed a poppy field after the poppies disappeared? 🍀

And somehow, that’s exactly what makes these photos special to me. 😄
