The forest never sleeps.
Surrounded by a natural symphony of crickets, cicadas, frogs, owls, and other nocturnal birds, a subtle movement on a rock caught our attention. There, illuminated by a flashlight, was this beautiful Banded Gecko (Coleonyx mitratus).
Unlike most geckos, this species lacks the adhesive toe pads that allow others to climb walls and ceilings. Instead, it spends its life on the forest floor, quietly hunting among rocks and leaf litter.
This image captures a fleeting moment as the gecko uses its tongue to clean its eyes, a behavior that lasts only a fraction of a second.
Nature’s greatest wonders are often found in the smallest creatures, hidden in the shadows of the night.
