I realized Iâve been talking quite a lot about this retreat lately without properly introducing the person who decided creating a retreat was somehow a sensible addition to her life đ
â€ïž
So, very short versionâŠ
Iâm originally from Poland, spent about 12 years living in Norway, and now Costa Rica has been home for around 6 years.
I actually started out as an engineer, did a little modeling when I was younger, and for most of my life Iâve been slightly obsessed with movement and adventure.
Then in 2013 I badly broke my elbow snowboarding. Three operations later, life looked rather different for a while.
Strangely, something really good came out of it. I found yoga, started taking self-portraits, later studied art photography in Oslo, became a yoga teacher, and eventually photography became my full-time work.
I even went back to snowboarding after the accident. I was terrified at first and still dealing with pain, but little by little I became stronger and actually better than I had been before. I think I also learned to approach my body very differently.
Eventually I fell in love with Costa Rica, fell in love here too â€ïž, stayed, and now live here with my husband and our little boy.
Today there is still usually some combination of photography, yoga, surfing, kitesurfing, freediving, ocean and slightly questionable ideas involving adventure in my life.
And when I look at it all now, this retreat actually makes a lot of sense. Photography, women, movement, nature, slowing down and Costa Rica have all been part of my life for years.
This is just the place where all those pieces finally meet. â€ïž
