Bananas is a male Baird's Tapir that lives in my neighborhood and he frequently comes up and eats my garden and then uses my fallen log as a scratching post to remove ticks.

That's what neighbors are for!

An amazing experience yesterday as we found a huge flock of Orange-fronted Parakeets gorging on seeds next to the road in the Pacific lowlands in Costa Rica! Unbelievable to see these birds so close.

Finally! In 2020, I saw a Scaled Antpitta on a night roost at Tapir Valley and I've been trying to find this bird during the day for the last four years. I haven't heard a vocalization or any sign of this bird.

But yesterday I was standing on a forest trail and it came up and perched on the edge of the trail for a good eight seconds. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Will I have to wait another four years to see it again?
