Hay animales que no parecen de esta era, máquinas del tiempo andantes que nos maravillan con su aspecto prehistórico y rudo, sin siquiera ser descendientes de criaturas que asociamos con el pasado lejano como los dinosaurios por ejemplo. Ese es parte del encanto de los reptiles.

Las lagartijas o geckos son una maravilla de reptil, no solo por su fama de regenerar la cola como otros reptiles, ¡Sino que a pesar de ser tan grandes son capaces de trepar por las paredes! Esto para algunos podrá sonar normal, pero no es tan fácil como lo es para las arañas con su ligereza, ¿En tonces cómo lo hacen? Bueno, pues sus patas están conformadas por minúsculas estructuras filamentadas invisibles al ojo humano, que al entrar en contacto con una superficie aprovechan el área de contacto para generar fuerzas de Van der Waals, que permiten generar atracción electrostática suficiente como para mantenerlas en las paredes.
Además de bonitas tienen excelentes superpoderes, ¿No crees? 😁

La iguana verde (Iguana iguana), también conocida como iguana común. Este es uno de mis reptiles favoritos, me resulta grácil e imponente a la vez, llegando a los 2 metros de longitud, siendo las hembras unos 10 cm más cortas. Su distribución se encuentra en América desde México hasta Brasil. Viven en regiones húmedas, buscando normalmente las partes altas de los árboles para tomar el sol.

The green iguana (Iguana iguana), also known as the American iguana. This is one of my favorite reptiles, I find it graceful and imposing at the same time, reaching 2 meters in length, the females being about 10 cm shorter. Its distribution is found in America from Mexico to Brazil. They live in humid regions, normally looking for the upper parts of the trees to bask in the sun.

"Banda de palomas", lo cotidiano también posee belleza.
Dejo tres datos curiosos de las palomas:
-Pertenecen al genero colúmbidas (Columbidae) que incluye las tortillas y aves con formas afines, siendo un género que está en... ¡Todo el mundo! Excepto en la Antártida y el ártico, así que las encontraremos a donde sea que vayamos.
-Son monogamas (lo cual no me lo esperaba)
-Estan entre las aves más rápidas, con una velocidad de vuelo de hasta 56 km/h.

Imponente para algunos, repulsivo para otros, este espécimen habita en tantos lugares que es ampliamente conocido, esta foto en particular fue tomada en el "desierto" de la Tatacoa. En Colombia es conocido comúnmente como "chulo", pero el buitre negro americano (Coragyps atratus) tiene múltiples nombres, como zopilote, gallinazo o jote (entre otros), y si bien no es del agrado de todas las personas la realidad es que su función carroñera es muy importante en el ecosistema, sin embargo en ocasiones ataca el ganado, lo que lo convierte en enemigo de algunos criadores. Su hábitat yace en América y parte desde USA bajando por américa central y casi toda Latinoamérica.
Realmente son aves muy interesantes de las que podría escribir mucho, pero no me extenderé más. Espero la presencia que genera en esta foto les guste tanto como a mi.

Ahora unas protagonizadas por el halcon Rupornis magnirostris, también conocido como gavilán pollero, entre otros. Presente desde el sur de México hasta Uruguay posee un tamaño de entre 31 y 41 cm con un peso de 250 a 300 g, aunque he de decir que en persona pareciera más grande, especialmente al verlo volando.
Si bien mi avistamiento de este cazador fue en el "desierto" de la Tatacoa, en realidad está adaptado a diversos ecosistemas, e incluso es posible verlo en algunas ciudades, siendo posiblemente el halcón más común en áreas urbanas a lo largo de su zona de habitad.

El fiofío montano (nombre científico Elaenia frantzii) conocido en Colombia como elaenia o elenia montañera, es un ave cuyo habitad nativa no es muy extensa y se distribuye entre América Central y el noreste de Suramérica. Me resultó increíble enterarme que sus 14-15 cm en promedio le atribuyen apenas 17-20 g de masa, menos de la décima parte que un Smart phone promedio. 😳
Son solitarios a excepción de cuando se reproducen, momento en que la hembra elabora un nido de musgo y liquen a unos 2 m de altura.
Su nombre científico proviene del griego "elianeos" que significa aceite de oliva, junto con "frantzii" en referencia al naturalista y recolector alemán Alexander von Frantzius.

The mountain elaenia (scientific name Elaenia frantzii) known in Colombia as elaenia or elenia montañera, is a bird whose native habitat is not very extensive and is distributed between Central America and northeastern South America. It was incredible to me to find out that its 14-15 cm on average gives it just 17-20 g of mass, less than a tenth of that of an average Smart phone. 😳
They are solitary except for when they reproduce, when the female makes a nest of moss and lichen about 2 m high.
Its scientific name comes from the Greek "elianeos" which means olive oil, together with "frantzii" in reference to the German naturalist and collector Alexander von Frantzius.

Llevaba un buen tiempo intentando capturar en fotos a esta Garza blanca, también conocida como garceta grande y de nombre científico Ardes alba. Usualmente llegaba de la nada a un estanque de la universidad en que estudio, se paseaba un rato y se iba, siempre dejándome sin lograr una foto, por lo menos hasta un día que fui al lugar solo con la intención de encontrarla y afortunadamente se quedó modelandome unos minutos.
Ahora unos datos de esta belleza:
Es bastante grande, en promedio mide de pico a cola 80 a 105 cm, de un metro de altura al estar de pie, con una envergadura de 130 a 170 cm, es bien dada a la pesca lo que pueden ver en la segunda foto. Habita todos los continentes a excepción de la Antártida, haciéndola la Garza más distribuida en el mundo. Si bien tienen actualmente un estado de conservación de preocupación menor, igual se han reducido en número a causa de la perdida de habitad por urbanización.

Usually he came out of nowhere to a pond at the university where I study, walked around for a while and left, always leaving me without getting a photo, at least until one day when I went to the place with the only intention of finding it and fortunately he stayed. modeling myself for a few minutes.
Now some data of this beauty:
It is quite large, on average it measures 80 to 105 cm from beak to tail, one meter tall when standing, with a wingspan of 130 to 170 cm, it is good at fishing, as you can see in the second photo. It inhabits all continents except Antarctica, making it the most widely distributed heron in the world. El Cucarachero Currucuchú (conocido en el desierto de la Tacoa cómo "Mirla") es un ave que habita en Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana y Brasil. La hembra no difiere mucho del macho salvó unas tonalidades en la nuca y la cabeza. Se alimentan de invertebrados y sus huevos, aunque en ocasiones también comen bayas.
Habitan en zonas con árboles y arbustos dispersos, aunque yo los he visto principalmente sobre los cactus.

The Bicolored wren (known in the Tacoa desert as "Mirla") is a bird that lives in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil. The female does not differ much from the male except for some shades on the neck and head. They feed on invertebrates and their eggs, although they also occasionally eat berries.
They live in areas with scattered trees and shrubs, although I have seen them mainly on cacti.

Tuve la fortuna de presenciar esta particular escena en el desierto de la Tatacoa, una defensa del territorio que se desplazaba entre cactus y cactus desarrollandose a lo largo de muchos minutos. A la derecha vemos un halcon, en particular un Rupornis magnirostris (conocido también como gavilán pollero, entre otros), postrado tranquilo e imponente sobre el cactus. En contrapartida a la izquierda tenemos un cucarachero currucuchú o chuchafría (Campylorhynchus griseus) aunque en la zona lo conocen como Mirla. El cual gritaba desesperado en todas direcciones con la esperanza de dar aviso de que estaban siendo atacados por un depredador intrusivo. De tanto en tanto se avalanzaba sobre el halcón, pero este apenas hacía un ademán con su robusto cuerpo y lo alejaba cómo si de poca cosa tratase, así una y otra vez. ¿En qué concluyó la escena? ¿Llegaron refuerzos o el halcón se hizo un festin de huevos? No lo sé, tuve que irme al cabo de unos minutos por lo el resultado de la desequilibrada batalla queda en la incertidumbre...

Esta pequeña creo que es una ejemplar hembra de Pyrocephalus obscurus (conocido también como mosquero cardenal), pero no estoy seguro, he buscado sin lograr confirmar, por lo que si alguien puede corregir o confirmar estaría encantado de que lo haga y así modifico está descripción 😁. La encontré después de un muy largo rato caminando por el desierto de la Tatacoa bajo un sol cuánto menos retador, pero valió la pena. Espero les guste tanto como a mi. 😉

I think this little one is a female specimen of Pyrocephalus obscurus (also known as the vermilion flycatcher), but I'm not sure, I've searched without being able to confirm, so if someone can correct or confirm I'd be happy if they do so and so I'll modify this description 😁. I found it after a very long time walking through the Tatacoa desert under a challenging sun, but it was worth it. I hope you like it as much as me. 😉
