The Video Quality Is Terrible. The Memory Is Priceless.

When I first came to Colombia, I had an iPhone 7.

By today’s standards, this video isn’t impressive. The quality isn’t great. The footage is shaky. The camera certainly wasn’t professional.

But every time I watch it, I’m reminded that the most important moments in life aren’t measured in megapixels.

This video captures a young guy discovering a country that would completely change his life.

It captures my growing love for the culture, the people, the food, the music, and the warmth that I found here. It captures the beginning of friendships, adventures, and experiences that I never could have imagined.

And somewhere in that journey, it captured the beginning of a love story.

A love story that, years later, became my happily ever after.

As a photographer, I’ve learned that the best images aren’t always the sharpest. They aren’t always taken with the most expensive camera. The best images are the ones that make you feel something years later.

This little iPhone 7 video may not be technically perfect, but it captured the start of a life that I now can’t imagine living without.

For that reason alone, it will always be one of my favorite videos I’ve ever taken.

Sometimes the quality isn’t what matters.

The story is.

The older I get, the more I realize something simple is true. You cannot keep what you have unless you are willing to give it away.
Photography changed my life. It gave me a way to connect with people, travel the world, build a business, tell stories, and see beauty in places others walked past without noticing. And after nearly 15 years in education, one of the greatest feelings in the world is watching someone finally understand their camera, trust their eye, and create something they never thought they could create.
Over the last week alone, multiple people have signed up for our photography course here in Medellín, Colombia, and honestly, it means a lot. We are building something rooted in creativity, curiosity, and real human connection.

Whether you are picking up a camera for the very first time or already shooting professionally, there is always another level to reach. We offer individual sessions and mini series focused on understanding your camera settings, learning composition, mastering lighting, creating stronger edits, and producing images that actually feel alive.

We teach in person in Medellín, but we can also teach virtually from anywhere in the world.

Beginner. Expert. Somewhere in between. It does not matter. Stay humble enough to learn. Stay curious enough to keep creating.

And one thing I’ve learned for sure. If you are not willing to believe in yourself and market what you do, nobody else is going to do it for you.

Photographing Iguazu Falls was a dream I carried for a long time. After multiple failed attempts, I finally stood in front of it and was able to truly see it.

There is something about arriving at a place you once thought might never happen for you that feels like recovery. Like breathing differently. Like remembering that timing has its own wisdom.

Iguazu has always held more than beauty. The Guarani people believed these waters were formed through a story of love and separation, and even today the falls carry that same sense of power and surrender. One of its most overwhelming sections, the “Devil’s Throat,” reminds you how small you are in the best possible way.

It is also a place shaped by deep history and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, not just for what it looks like, but for what it represents.

Standing there, I wasn’t just photographing a waterfall. I was witnessing something that felt spiritual, grounding, and strangely healing after everything it took to get there.

Some places don’t just get visited. They meet you where you are becoming. |
