This building is made of trees that never grew anywhere near the Caribbean.
Sounds made up, but it's true: the whole structure is Austrian cross-laminated timber, engineered in Europe, then shipped across the Atlantic and put together right here on a stretch of coast that used to be nothing but cactus and dry scrub.
No concrete blocks, no rebar forest, none of the build-a-hotel-fast approach most places take. It's slower and probably pricier, but the wood breathes, it doesn't need the same brute-force AC everything else on the island runs on, and it just feels different to sleep in a room built from actual timber instead of poured concrete.
We didn't exactly grow up thinking "let's ship lumber across an ocean" was a normal plan either. But here we are, and guests usually notice something's off before we even explain it. the room feels warmer, literally and otherwise.
