Taking 33yrs to build from 1916, this beautiful church is located inside the canyon of the Guáitara River, in southern Colombia.
⠀⠀
This was my last stop, before crossing the border to Ecuador. I will definitely return to Colombia 💛🇨🇴

Over The Rooftops 🇨🇴
⠀⠀
This was my final city in Colombia, in May 2019. Known for being hot and humid - not just because it’s the salsa capital 💃🏻 😉
⠀⠀
A Canadian/Colombian friend is currently visiting her home city, so it reminded me to go through my photos. I’ll be sharing a couple more over the next few days.

The Tourist Shot 📸

Having travelled many places around the world, I’m always finding it interesting (sometimes amusing) how other people like to capture their travel moments. The selfies (we’re all guilty), the poses, the cheesy smiles.

Sometimes I like to capture that.

It’s all a bit of fun, each to their own creative. 😉

Fernando Botero was born in Medellin in 1932 and became world famous for his paintings, drawings, and sculptures.

In 2004, he donated 23 sculptures to the Museum of Antioquia, which are now displayed in the surrounding Plaza Botero.

A couple of hours outside of Medellin, Colombia, you will find El Peñón de Guatape - a 650m, ten million ton rock.

First climbed in 1954, it has now become a tourist destination - there are stairs to the top and plenty of tourists trying to take selfies.

That said, it does provide an epic view of the surrounding landscape. But I’d still rather hike my favourite giant monolith, The Chief!

It’s the people that create the vibe; that make a place a special place.

Colombia has to be one of my favourite Latin American countries.

Mostly because of the people; as colourful in personality as they are on the outside.

City Mood

After a 2hr flight from Guatemala, I arrived in the capital of Colombia 🇨🇴

Bogota is known for its cooler temperatures and fairly cloudy and rainy weather. After a couple of days here, I decided to head up to the local viewpoint - Monserrate.

Unfortunately, when I got to the top, the clouds covered any view. However, after waiting patiently, I managed to capture a break in the clouds. I don’t usually go for B&W, but felt I brought out more detail in this situation.

Washing at The Lake 💦

It’s been over 2 months, since I last shared a photo with you. And even then, it had become few and far between.

8 countries in 7 months (that’s if you don’t include the U.S 😅). It’s a lot of ground to cover. I had a fantastic time, but getting out with my camera became less of a priority, as did sharing on here. And I accepted that.

I was enjoying practicing my Spanish with the locals, exploring new cultures, new lands, and eating waaay too much food.

While I was still capturing moments, I decided to wait until I got back, to start going through the results. I’ve been back in the UK for almost 3 weeks. So, now is the time 😅

This is Lake Atitlan, in Guatemala. A lake within a volcanic crater, surrounded by Mayan villages and volcanoes - one of which I camped on (as you’ll remember from my previous posts).

This was around 7am, as the sun was coming up. Just a few locals around, starting their day.
