These photographs come from a larger documentary project on migrant workers and their families.
For a while, the church offered a break from the demands of their daily lives. They gathered with family and friends, held their children, laughed, whispered, and allowed themselves moments of tenderness and joy.
Those were the moments I wanted to photograph.

Joy, somewhere between departure and stillness.

This is a recent portrait made in Bangkok in June 2026, after the publication of FALLEN ANGELS, my ten-year photobook portraying Thai transgender women.
Thank you i-D for including my work. Link to i_d's Instagram post in the first comment.

According to Time Out Bangkok editors, Joe Cummings’ feature on Fallen Angels, my photobook about Bangkok’s trans women, was the most viewed post across Time Out’s global network on one day last week.
Grateful to see the work connecting.

Arthur, Bangkok, 2024.
I took this portrait two years ago and somehow left it aside. Maybe the timing didn’t feel right then.
I came across his portraits again today, and this one stopped me.

Fallen Angels was recently featured in Time Out Bangkok.
The book is a cinematic portrait of Bangkok’s trans women, photographed over many years through the city’s streets, rooms, bars, stairways, and late-night spaces.
Thank you to Joe Cummings and Time Out Bangkok for the feature, and to everyone who has supported the book since its release.
Full story in the first comment.
Fallen Angels is available through my website and RCB Bookstore.
