How accurately can a PTZ camera return to the same target?

We tested our JideTech 8MP 30X PTZ camera from the 20th floor using ONVIF Device Manager.

The camera moved from the home position to a distant target area, zoomed in for observation, and then returned accurately to the preset position through ONVIF Absolute Positioning.

Key test highlights:

Most people compare PTZ cameras by megapixels and zoom.

5MP or 8MP?
30X or 36X?
IR distance 300m or 500m?

These are important.
But for project integration, one more question matters:

Can the PTZ camera move by exact coordinates?

With ONVIF Absolute Positioning, the camera can receive an AbsoluteMove command from an ONVIF tool, VMS, or third-party platform.

Example:

Pan 120°
Tilt 35°
Zoom 30X

This makes the camera more suitable for radar systems, thermal detection systems, perimeter protection, and map-based control.

A PTZ camera should not only see the target.
It should know where to move.
