🇪🇸 Ave endémica de South Georgia, es además el único paseriforme de la región biogeográfica Antártica. Se alimenta principalmente de invertebrados marinos que busca en la zona intermareal.

🇬🇧 Endemic to South Georgia, this is also the only passerine in the Antarctic biogeographic region. It feeds mainly on marine invertebrates found in the intertidal zone.

🇪🇸 La Anaconda es la serpiente más gruesa y de mayor peso del mundo, con ejemplares comprobados de cerca de 150 kg, aunque hay registros no confirmados de casi 250 kg.
Es también la segunda más larga después de la Pitón Reticulada, llegando a los 6m de longitud.
Habita en la cuenca amazónica, y rara vez se aleja del agua, ocultándose en remansos de río poco profundos donde acecha a sus presas entre las que se cuentan tapires, capibaras, pecaríes, yacarés y otros animales de gran tamaño, a los que mata, como todas las boas, por asfixia, constriñéndolos entre sus poderosos y musculares anillos, antes de tragarlos enteros. Su nombre genérico, 𝘌𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘴, viene del griego y significa "buena nadadora", en referencia a sus hábitos casi exclusivamente acuáticos.

🇬🇧 The Green Anaconda is the thickest and heaviest snake in the world, with confirmed specimens weighing nearly 150 kg, although there are unconfirmed reports of almost 250 kg.
It is also the second longest snake after the Reticulated Python, reaching up to 6 meters in length.
It inhabits the Amazon basin and rarely ventures far from the water, hiding in shallow river backwaters where it ambushes its prey, which includes tapirs, capybaras, peccaries, caimans, and other large animals. Like all boas, it kills its prey by asphyxiation, constricting them within its powerful, muscular coils before swallowing them whole.
Its generic name, 𝘌𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘴, comes from Greek and means "good swimmer", referring to its almost exclusively aquatic habits.

🇪🇸 Sin duda el más colorido de los habitantes del pajonal, el Sietecolores habita humedales con vegetación palustre en el Cono Sur, donde cada primavera fabrica su nido en forma de taza, anclado a las totoras con fibras vegetales y forrado de materiales suaves disponibles en las cercanías, como pelo, lana y como en esta foto, plumillas de cardo.

🇬🇧 Without a doubt the most colorful of the inhabitants of the reedbed, the Many-coloured Rush Tyrant inhabits wetlands with marsh vegetation in the Southern Cone, where every spring it makes its cup-shaped nest, anchored to the reeds with plant fibers and lined with soft materials available nearby, such as hair, wool, and as in this photo, thistle-down.

🇪🇸 El Petrel Gigante del Sur (o Antártico) es, junto con su especie hermana, el miembro más grande de la familia Procellariidae, que agrupa a los petreles, fardelas y petreles zambullidores (yuncos). Ambos miembros del género 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘴 son los únicos petreles que cazan y carroñean activamente en tierra, depredando polluelos y huevos de otras aves marinas como pingüinos en las playas y congregándose alrededor de cadáveres de ballenas y focas, tanto en tierra como en el agua.

🇬🇧 Southern (or Antarctic) Giant Petrel is, together with its sister species the Northern Giant Petrel, the largest member in family Procellariidae, which groups petrels, shearwaters and diving petrels. Both members in genus 𝘔𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘴 are the only petrels that actively hunt and scavenge in land, preying upon chicks and eggs of other seabirds like penguins on beaches, and congregating around whale and seal carcasses, both on land and on water.

🇬🇧 Smallest member of its family in Chile, this secretive bird spends most of its life hidden deep within the dense reed bed, where it hunts for prey like small fish and invertebrates.
