The BBC are running this behind-the-scenes film revealing how we supported the immensely talented photographer Liam Man in producing this award-winning series of fine art photographs at the stunning Glaciar Leones on the edge of the Patagonian Northern Ice Fields, during the planet’s penultimate ‘Ring of Fire’ total solar eclipse in late-2024.
In one of the greatest production challenges we have taken on, arriving at the location involved a six-hour drive through Patagonian dirt roads, a 10km hike with supplies and equipment for a week and a zodiac boat ride - just to reach the glacier - which spills into the stunning Lago Leones.
Over four days we positioned Liam’s photo and video units on and around the glaciar, sometimes at night, moving equipment and personnel under the careful guidance of local trail and ice-climbing experts
Pudu Media Chile is immensely proud to have been part of Liam’s UNESCO-backed global Icebreaker project - aimed at highlighting the impact of the climate crisis and the death of the world’s glaciers, which have been with us for 12,000 years since the end of the last ice age, and are now tragically disappearing. It gave us all a sense of purpose as we worked through the great logistical and physical challenges of producing in such a remote but spectacular location.
