Dampflokomotive,150 Jahre Emmentalbahn, Switzerland

The oldest existing steam locomotive of the former Emmental Railway (EB), the Ed 3/3 No. 3 "LANGNAU," was returned to its home region after approximately half a century. This 144-year-old witness to Switzerland's proud locomotive construction history was presented in May 2025 at the " 150 Years of the Emmental Railway " anniversary event running again on the local rail lines. The work to get the loco running again was carried out at the workshop of the Bern Steam Railway Association in Konolfingen (home of Nestle).
This loco and others ran under their own steam pulling carriages with passengers. This was the first time the loco ran under its own steam since 1970, it is usually housed at the transport museum of Lucerne. The work was carried out by passionate volunteers.

The Ed 3/3 No. 3 "LANGNAU" locomotive was built in 1881 for the Emmental Railway (Burgdorf–Solothurn and Burgdorf–Langnau lines) and was in service there until 1933.

Aareschlucht (Aare Gorge), Meiringen, Switzerland

The Aare Gorge (German: Aareschlucht) is a section of the river Aare that carves through a limestone ridge near the town of Meiringen, in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. The gorge is an indirect product of glaciation; 10,000 years ago, just as the Ice Age was coming to an end, torrential runoff water from melting glaciers eroded a deep, narrow chasm through the limestone barrier. Although barely 2 kilometres (1 mi) long, this passage is bordered by sheer cliffs up to 50 m (160 ft) high on either side. The gorge varies in width from some 30 metres (98 ft) at its widest to just 1 metre (3 ft 3 in) at its narrowest.

Beautiful Autumn colours here in Switzerland at the moment. Went for a little trek to try and capture some Firecrest (bird) photos, but they are very quick and flighty, flitting too fast for me to catch them in amongst the leaves. Hopefully you like these at least 😃
