la_cápsula

The program of la_cápsula includes exhibitions and one day events such as talks, performances, project presentations and concerts.

la_cápsula is an independent and experimental curatorial project that seeks to create a dialogue between the artistic and cultural production of Latin America and Swiss/local artists. By promoting a dialogue between artists and cultural producers from Switzerland and Latin America, la_cápsula has opened a space in Zürich in which topics that affect both geographic territories, such as environmenta

l issues, feminism, geopolitics, gender issues and decolonialism, are addressed in a wider sense and discussed within the context of Switzerland and its local population. la_cápsula seeks to present critical and interesting art made by emerging artists, and uses critical thinking and humor as strategies for the curatorial process.

The Atlas of the American Monster, now with works in progress by Bastardilla (bastardilla), Thiago Modesto (Thiago Modesto), Gloria Quispe (Gloria Quispe), and Rodrigo García Cordero, denounces the colonial trail of dehumanization and violence against indigenous resistance through the allegorical mirror of writing, printmaking, and radical solidarity.

The Secret Diary of Henri Pittier, a new collaboration with Frederic Siegel from , reveals for the first time a set of botanical species that the Swiss-Venezuelan pioneer buried in the ruins of the Rancho Grande biological station, deep in the tropical rain forest.

almost a tradition by now: people come to our events, linger at the bar, and end up joyfully (and critically) discussing just about everything. So we thought: why not take it a step further?

Join us for a collective reading session, where we’ll explore a text together while sharing a glass of wine — with or sans alcohol. The wine part is almost a joke: should we toast every time we agree on a brilliant sentence? Can a wine be compared to a theory? Does its taste resemble your position on the text?

We want to make reading fun, social, and connected not only to artistic practice, but also to everyday life. This is an experiment, and we’d love to shape and develop this format together with you. Let’s see where it takes us.

For our first session, we’ll be reading For Opacity by Édouard Glissant. You can download the text via the link in our bio. It’s available in several languages.
