15 Years of Photography — Some of My All-Time Favorites

I’ve been a photographer for around 15 years now — and photography has changed a lot for me along the way.

I started with landscapes, moved deeper into cityscapes and streetscapes, and over the last years, portrait and studio photography have become another big part of my work.

At the same time, photography also became something I teach, helping other photographers develop their skills and their own visual style.

So here are simply some of my all-time favorite images from the last 15 years. Different genres, different chapters — but all part of the same journey.

A little BTS from my eclipse shoot 🌒📸

For this shot, I captured a bracketed sequence using the FUJIFILM GFX100S II with the GF500mm to get enough reach while keeping all the detail I wanted.

During the eclipse, I moved between a few different spots in the same area, constantly searching for new compositions as the sun moved closer to the horizon. This was one of the final setups of the evening.

Seeing a solar eclipse happen right around sunset was honestly pretty surreal — and definitely an experience I won’t forget anytime soon.

As a landscape and travel photographer, you spend a huge part of your life simply getting to the places you want to photograph.

People usually only see the finished images in a portfolio. What’s easy to forget is how far apart these locations actually are — sometimes on completely different sides of the planet.

Flights, road trips, long drives, hikes, early mornings, late nights, and countless hours waiting for the right conditions — all for a single frame.

These are some of the places around the world where I captured a few of my favorite images over the years.

Sometimes the journey behind the photograph is just as memorable as the photograph itself.

Yesterday I went up into the Alpstein to photograph the solar eclipse 🌒

I have to admit, I’m not 100% happy with the results. The whole shoot was extremely last minute, with basically zero planning beforehand — and looking back, there are definitely things I would have done differently.

Luckily, Fujifilm managed to get me the GF500mm at very short notice, which gave me the reach I needed for the shots I had in mind.

Still, it was a beautiful day in the mountains with my dog. We moved between different spots, explored different perspectives, and simply enjoyed being outside while photographing this special evening.

These are the first two images. I still have a few more to edit and will share them over the next days when I find the time.

Sometimes not getting exactly the shot you imagined is part of photography too.

How far can you really go in Lightroom before you need Photoshop?

For this image, I wanted to compare three different stages:

The original file straight out of camera.
A full edit done only in Lightroom, including Lightroom’s masking tools.
And finally, the same RAW development taken into Photoshop and finished with layers, masks and more detailed adjustments.

I’m currently expanding the editing section of my new photography app on Studio.com, so I thought this would be a perfect example to show what each workflow can actually do.

Lightroom has become incredibly powerful — but Photoshop still gives you a completely different level of control.

People often see the final image.

What they don’t see is everything that happened before it.

Most of my landscape photography is created during road trips. I’ll spend two or three weeks driving through a country, sleeping in my car, in a tent, or in tiny hotels in the middle of nowhere. Some days I drive for hours just to reach one location. Then comes the hike, the waiting, hoping for the right light, and sometimes going home without the shot.

That’s the part of photography I love just as much as pressing the shutter.

These maps show where some of my favorite images were actually taken—and remind me that every photo has a journey behind it.

These are the four photography genres I currently enjoy the most.

Streetscapes. Seascapes. Nightscapes. And People.

They’re completely different—but that’s exactly what keeps photography exciting for me.

I know social media usually rewards creators who focus on just one niche. But honestly, I’d rather photograph everything I truly love than limit myself to one genre just because an algorithm prefers it.

At the end of the day, I create for myself first—and I’m grateful that so many of you enjoy following that journey.

The Irish coast is one of the wildest and most dramatic places I’ve ever photographed. 🌊

If you love seascape photography, rough cliffs, powerful waves, dark skies, and landscapes shaped by wind and weather, Ireland is hard to beat.

There’s something incredibly raw about this coastline. Nothing feels polished or perfect — and that’s exactly what makes it so photogenic.

A few more images from our trip to La Muralla Roja in Spain 💙

This place had been on my list for years, so finally visiting it this summer with my fiancée, Joelle, felt pretty special.

And of course, having such a beautiful woman by my side who also happens to be the perfect model made the whole experience even better.

La Muralla Roja is easily one of the most surreal locations I’ve ever photographed. The colors, the geometry, the light, and the endless compositions made it almost impossible to stop shooting.

I’m honestly so happy with the images we created there — definitely one of those trips I’ll remember for a very long time.
