I started my blog 4 years ago, I haven't touched it one year, and last night, riding a creative bolt of sudden inspiration, I stayed up until 2am giving it some love. Everyone deals with grief in different ways, but art is always what saves me.

My latest post "Fill My Empty" touches on grief, mourning, and finding a way to light through art.

It's been a long time coming, but I finally wrapped my VSCO Artist Initiative piece. It feels timely as we move through this world in a climate that needs more acceptance, more art, more love.

Many thanks to all the dancers at Compañía Periferia who continue to inspire me as an artist and as a human. It's only through their willingness to share their story and let me into their world that this would have ever been possible.

It's been a wild ride. As the project progressed, I received all kinds of reactions. People who found it just as important as I did/do, people who didn't want to touch it because it felt uncomfortable, and people who told me to "dumb it down," as if something as unsettling as slavery and continued discrimination should ever be diluted.

No matter your reaction, please take a minute and remember that art matters.
