A variation of the eclipse during totality in Spain. A minimal blend of a few short exposures that accentuate the corona and prominences.

I programmed an exposure ramp of about 60 images ranging from .0001 second to 1.0 second and it’s been fun blending the different ones together as layers to accentuate different details.

Taken with Askar FRA400 telescope and 0.7x reducer and ZWO ASI 533mc pro camera.

Two views of totality from the 12 August 2026 total solar eclipse in Villarejo de Órbigo, Spain. 🌑☀️ 🇪🇸

The orange image is a single short exposure, revealing the brilliant inner corona and solar prominences. The blue-grey image combines multiple exposures to bring out the much fainter outer corona and its delicate streamers.

The feature visible at 12 o’clock is a solar prominence — a huge structure of plasma extending tens of thousands of kilometres above the Sun’s surface, roughly 1–2 Earth diameters high.

First light solar image for me. 🌞

Picked up a SVBONY solar filter for my Askar 120 APO. Took this image this morning as the heat wave continues across Switzerland.

I took 500 FIT images with an ASIAIR and stacked them, keeping about the best 20% for the final stack using Siril. Retouched in photoshop to finish.
