Our new Wildgardenlove dweller ! 🩷

Isn’t she a love ?…with her surprisingly long legs and speedy walk !
And such a huge privilege she’s called our garden home !
She has set up her nest right on our back doorstep, under the rosemary bush !
I found her a few weeks ago walking across our decking with her mouth full of dried leaves ! Oblivious to me, just intent on building her nest.
This is one of her first outings to find food for her hoglets, which we can hear every now and again, from under the rosemary bush.
She’s not found the quietest garden to call home but probably one of the wildest ! 💚

Love in a mist or Nigella
Who else loves these?! ….
Beautiful, generous, will grow out of a crack in a path, long lasting and self seeding - and even the seed pods are beautiful !
These are self seeded from last year and are just opening now 💙
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend !

Irises and Cow Parsley

Loving how the garden is filled with the sweet scent from cow parsley, lilac, Lily of the valley and clematis. Clematis has to be my favourite right now but the cow parsley is beautiful too.
The irises are just coming out - I hadn’t realised that they were named after the Greek Goddess of rainbows ! Iris was also a messenger for Zeus and used the rainbow to travel between heaven and earth.
What’s your favourite spring garden scent?
Enjoy your Sunday !

Lunaria annua or Honesty
April evening beauties !
A generous easy plant to grow with both beautiful flowers and seed heads. It is an exceptional plant for attracting bees and butterflies, providing early season nectar and serving as a key host plant for specific larvae.
See stories for the visitor who took a nap here this evening !...

First pretty blooms emerging this week in the garden - Polar Hunter and Cum Laude narcissi 💚🤍💚
Love Polar Hunter for their delicate scent and simplicity and Cum Laude for their delicate apricot frills 🧡
What’s popping up in your garden this week? Have a good look as it’s all starting to gradually awaken and unfold…! 🩷.

A fluffy little Aster seed head tucked away in the February garden !

It has been a while since I last posted, mostly due to a heavy workload, which mostly means long hours in the office and little garden time!…

Today was beautiful and warm here for a change and the earth has now defrosted so I was able to lift a few w**ds out and clear a bit of the beds.
I don’t know about you, but I always find it hard to clear away the old summer growth from the garden as I love all of it so much ! Winter landscapes are fascinating - different shapes and structures, the browns, the greys, the seedheads, the storm and snow resilient bent stems. The beauty past. So I leave it as long as I can, reluctantly clearing it as spring comes, eventually cutting it back and using it as mulch, never throwing it away..
I will add some snippets of today’s garden to my stories - how is your winter garden doing? Do you love all of the winter shapes too?…

Bumblebees - how not to love them ?!… 💜
Love their evening rounds in the garden - from the Nepeta to the Salvia to the Honeysuckle and to the last few irises in the garden …

June evenings in the garden 💚
Nepeta, Knautia macedonica and Anthriscus sylvestris - amongst the rest of the June crowd, jostling for space..
My favourites are here now - in our small cutting patch: nigella and centaurea cynus … and I just just gazing at these beauties in a vase or across the garden.
My favourite scent in all the garden is here too - honeysuckle. Reminds me of beautiful hedgerows back home 🩷
And in terms of sound - the garden is full of birdsong which is just incredible, isn’t it?… love listening to the last few blackbird songs before dusk 💙
Have a wonderful weekend ! .

Today was mostly some w**d pulling and karchering of the wooden deck… how about you?..

Nigella damascena | Love-in-a-Mist
Always trying hard to avoid favouritism in the garden here - but this is definitely a massive favourite of mine ! 💙 (Which is probably why I have sprinkled seeds all through the garden …and which is also why I forgive all the self seeded plants along our pathway as they gradually take over..!)
Love this beautiful flower and its wonderfully romantic name.

This dainty bunch went to someone else who loves flowers 💙😉

I will keep sowing it at intervals all spring and summer … because a girl can never have enough Love-in-a-Mist !.

Relishing these May evenings in the garden as it unfolds…!
Iris, catmint and cow parsley - drinking in the evening scent of the May garden whilst the rain has stopped for a couple of days

Can never keep up with the w**ding though and still have not planted out the sweet peas… 😕😳

Have a lovely week ahead ! 🩷.
