The plan was to go to Mer de Glace, but because of the heat the conditions were not ideal.

We moved to an easy ridge instead close to Le Brévent, just to drill rope work and movement, right after we went for a crag photo session. Then in the afternoon we reach Refuge du Plan de l’Aiguille to try some product shots with the Samaya tent, framed by the spires of Chamonix.

Thanks to .ascentphotography and Raph for putting the program back together in a few hours without the day losing anything.

Weissmies, 4011 m, we didn’t make it.

We started at 05:00 AM in complete darkness, skins, crampons, ice axe. Two roped teams. In mine, there was a guy attempting his first 4’000 m peak. Around 3’500 m, we could see he wasn’t doing well. Too exhausted, too unstable to continue safely on that terrain.

We decided to turn back.

It hurts, especially because that morning I was ready. Training, nutrition, hydration, all done. I could have eaten that mountain alive. But on a rope team, you go up together and you come down together. There’s no other rule.

The mountain is still there.

I had altitude sickness at 3’847m, we left at sunrise anyway.

Alphubel 4’206m - my first 4’000 peak.

We decided to split the ascent over two days and spending the night at the bivouac. I wasn’t feeling great, we had dinner, packed the bags for the next day, and called it a night.

We left before sunrise. There was wind, then… the sun came out, and something shifted.

Summit at 08:30am - 25 August 2025

Back to the van, back home, first 4’000 done ✅

A special thanks to for this wonderful adventure 🏔️

Fog swallowing the sky.

Monday morning, heading for the north ante-summit of Pizzo dell’Uomo - 2586m.
No postcard view, no blue sky, just white everywhere, ski tracks and the right company.
